Sundance Media: Quentin Tarantino Flips Out at Sundance!

Once again I look to my good friend Peter at Slashfilm to find a pretty awesome video online. In this particular case it is a video that was posted to a site called ekstrabladet. And I must preface this with the fact that we work hard to stay away from gossip and the acts of the always dubious paparazzi, but this is pretty funny. Quentin Tarantino had a little interaction with a random person who was also holding a video camera.

In the video, you will notice that Tarantino gets a little riled up and turns to a bit of violence. Yet, in all fairness the camera operator really never explains what the hell he is doing, other than being a pest. For some this may confirm that Tarantino is sort of a dick, but for others they will understand his actions. From where I sit, there is fault on both sides — either way the interaction is silly and in ways funny. Just sit back an imagine Quentin doing the hand motion saying “What’s going on here? What’s going on here?” It’s hilarious when you think about it… Either way, I am interested to see how you all react to this one.

  • I almost thought Quentin was going to throw his coffee at the camera. That would have been epic. My guess is Quentin was on a breakthrough thought train and those douchebags ended it abruptly. :P

    Good for him!! I loved the part where he trips the guy. How can you call Quentin the dick when it was the camera guy was egging him on like that? At least he managed to keep his cool after the initial annoyance, he knew what the guy wanted out of him and he wasn't going to give in!

  • Well I guess if you're a celebrity assault is ok? You can haul off and slap some guy for filming at SUNDANCE? It's not like its at his home or on some random street. It is the biggest collection of movie people and fans with cameras in the world right now.

    I've had the "pleasure" of meeting QT once and this behavior doesn't surprise me at all. He comes off like a pompous dick because he is one.
  • Actually it is on some random street. This wasn't a sanctioned Sundance event; it was outside a Starbucks. The cameraman refused to explain what he was doing when QT asked him to put the camera down and then asked to be hit first, obviously looking to sue. Paparazzi are the scum of the earth.
  • It's a random street in Park City, Utah, during Sundance. Tarantino is a public figure and as such is subject to media attention. And Tarantino did hit him first. It looked like he slapped him and then tripped him. Now I'm all for men settling fights with their fists, but if the cameraman wanted to sue, thats enough for an assault charge right there. QT should pull an Uwe Boll and challenge this guy to a boxing match. Now that I would pay to see.

    Quentin Tarantino did not slap the cameraman. He reached to pull the camera down, and the paparazzo pulled the camera away. The funny thing is what happened after that: Quentin makes like he is going to do something, the guy jumps back, and gets hit by a car driving in the parking lot. Priceless.

    paparazzi are the scumbags of the industry, they are professional stalkers. if you say slapping the camera down from his hands is enough to sue for assult than following someone when asked to stop filming is enough to sue as it is illegal to film ANYONE on public property if they ask you not to continue filming, so paparazzi are in the wrong all the time and deserve everything they get.oh and tarantino can be a pompus arse if he wants cause he is one of the greatest film maker of our generation give him some respect.
