The Sarah Connor Chronicles, FOX, Airs Friday 8/7c
Episode: “Today Is the Day: Part 1” (Season Two, Episode 18)
Synopsis: Now that Riley is finally dead, the Connors are all playing right into the hands of the BSG Sexpot, thinking that it was Cameron who killed her. Meanwhile, the BSG Sexpot flashes back (or rather flashes forward to the future) about a critical submarine missions with special orders from John Connor. Finally, the Garbage Terminator and Special Agent Ellison engage in a game of hide-and-seek with John Henry, who has hidden the Garbage Terminator’s daughter.
Review: A while back, I said this show should have been called “The Moping Chronicles” rather than “The Sarah Connor Chronicles.” I stand by my statement this week. While there were some things I did enjoy about this episode, watching Sarah, John and even Cameron mope around about the loss of Riley was just downright boring.
The storyline of the BSG Sexpot was pretty interesting, considering that put us in the thick of the action of a future war. Too bad she had to mope around a lot, dealing with the guilt of killing Riley. I was pretty much into the mission from the Jimmy Carter submarine and how the marines were sent to retrieve a package for John Connor. At the very least, it was nice to see honest-to-God Terminators… although who doesn’t know the captain of the Jimmy Carter is a Terminator himself?
There is a bit of confusion about Terminators loyal to the cause and Terminators loyal to SkyNet. I’d prefer to see a more definitive line drawn because it’s just getting confusing now.
Finally, the sideline story about John Henry and Agent Ellison is still interesting, although the show does put too much focus on the weepy Connors storyline and not on the cooler elements of the series.
