So was Locke when he saw the light in the distance that came out of the hatch door, but just didn't want to go there to meet with himself (what he couldn't have done anyway cause it didn't happen) I don't know if it's true that you can't exist in the same location in two time periods at once… when Sawyer is watching Claire giving birth to Aaron (5.04 – The little prince) he obviously was around somewhere on the island.
