Had no idea that this was the season finale until just now. That changes my feelings on this episode, and the entire season. As much as I curse when other series do it, I would have preferred the season ended on a so-called "cliff hanger" with Eric and Vince on the outs, Turtle distracted by Jamie-Lynn, Johnny wanting to stay in Queens (feels the love there more than in L.A.) and Ari, well, ending with some stress-filled career-threatening situation back at the agency.
But hey, I'd rather leave a series semi-wrapped up, all happy ending-like just in case there's no "next" season, unlike those at Showtime that left me hanging with "Huff"…now THAT pissed me off!

(Incidentally, I love when actors playing versions of themselves – in this case, Jamie-Lynn – appear in the same show where actors they have worked with before – Joseph R. Gannascoli,"Vito" on the "The Sopranos" – are playing new characters. Just a cool little bit of trivia for TV addicts like myself, I guess.)

The show isnt all about Eric and Vince, but as far as they are concerned, I think the final moments of the last episode of S5 show a turbulent side to the lifestyle of these characters, playing up to the outsiders (my) view that things liek this are possible. Where one man's decision can influence a career and alter the plans and futures and ultimately successes of actor. (Do we not take the advice of our trusted fellow professionals also and look out for our friends when we see an opportunity for them). Well done on the show so far and I look forward with nothing but raw enthusiasm to the "apparent" 3 seasons of work already in the minds of the writers. (Perhaps that would confirm your suspicions on the Scorcese reference).

I think this season proved that every year they do a little more. Ari actually turning down the studio head job, admittedly to spite someone, but still a glimpse that the big picture is always on his mind. Drama sinking even lower for attention by naming a bar after himself. Turtle in a relationship where we will now see if he can handle the attitudes of the guys whilst trying to be a "decent" guy (quote season one "could you get laid without Vince?" "Do i give a f**k that's, the answer").

I think Eric needed to give it right back to Vince not just say fuck you and walk away. Most of the bad decisions that have gotten Vince to where he is in this ep. are all Vinc'e's fault. He chose not to do Aquaman 2 and piss off the studio head. He chose to use Billy Walsh as a director despite Eric's reservations. He didn't listen when they watched the preview cut and Eric said it sucked. He was the one acting in the movie and apparently sucking in the part of Pablo Escobar. So for him to blame all of his problems on E was way out of line. The rift should have continued into next season for sure, they made up way too easily.

Solid season. The end was awkward though, it's like no one directed it and they all had different concepts of acting surprised and happy that Scorsese came through.

Adam Grenier seems to be a pretty weak actor, much like Chase, so perhaps thats as deep as either can go.

What this season lacks is character development. It's ok for Vince and Eric to be reunited (even if it's a stupid decision on their part), if they work toward it. If they realize friendship is more important than work. But to get back together because fate pushed Scorsese towards Vince? Doesn't make sense. They get rewarded for nothing. We'll never know the depth vince could have gone to, except for that "fuck". too bad, really, but props to the producers anyway – the show was as entertaining as ever.

the ending was sooo lame the worst so far, the ratings are down…they should have ended on a down note. MAKE ME WANT TO WATCH NEXT SEASON!!! even if he got the Scorcese gig, he does't have to make up w/ eric (worst actor on tv, no depth) and fly to LA the next day??!?!?

I really enjoyed, yet another great review of the show. Season 5 is definitely not (not even remotely) the best season. There was simply a lack of character development and a primary focus on careers, including Aris.

I thought it was a great episode, but along with the rest of the entourage finales, it doesn't feel like a finale. The episode didn't leave us much to ponder about during the offseason. We don't have to worry about Vince's carreer. Learn from Weeds how to end a season.

Overall the season was better than I had expected. I love how Ari is back into the picture so much. I can't wait for next season.

PS. Michael Phelps, you have had your ten minutes of fame. Please just fade into the background.
