Yeah, like Baron said above. The explosion was meant to kill no one. The explosion just breaks the canister, releasing the bioweapon.

Here is my prediction for how Bauer survives - the "bad guys" who have kidnapped his daughter cure him. They cure him because they need him. They're going to make him work for them next season. How? Who knows. Maybe they keep his daughter captive all next season. Or, in going with this season the MEGATWIST ENDING is that the "bad guys" Tony Almeda is working for are actually good guys and they're fighting the real corrupt government. I can't imagine you hire a talented guy like Will Patton to have a grand total of 4 lines on the telephone, so I'll bet he makes it through to next season and is somehow involved with Jack directly.

Notice in the previews Jack is in pain - torture? No. They were sticking a needle into his spine, which is probably the cure. Jack begging to die in peace - are they going to murder him? Nope. They're going to save his life, against his wishes.

Game Over, 24. Either step up your game or hire me to write that Jack vs. Werewolves script I keep emailing you.

I thought the bomb was a biological weapon. If so then its not the explosion itself but the gas released by it that is supposed to kill all those people.

Yes, this whole Kim Bauer kidnap thing is kind of old. They have done this three times already. It is kind of an odd way to end this season. Perhaps there will be a few more dramatic twists to the end of this season. Who knows? I could see Jack shooting Tony and that would be plenty dramatic for me. Something has to happen to tie this story up in a good ending. They risk ending a strong season very weakly if they don't get it together. The whole Aaron Pierce storyline could bring some unexpected excitement to the finale. I am hoping they can pull this off although it doesn't seem likely. Let's see what happens.
