Strike Update: When Are My Favorite Shows Coming Back?
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on February 11, 2008
The strike could be over soon. In fact, it could be over on Tuesday when the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) finishes voting on the “tentative agreement” that was reached over the weekend. So for fans, the spotlight turns from the strike itself to what happens when all the writers go back to work. People want to know when they are going to see their favorite shows once again.
According to a report by TV Guide, it could be a while for some shows. As you will see below, shows like Bionic Woman have already fallen off the chopping block. Others, from Chuck to 24 could have long delays before returning to the small screen. But rest easy folks, as The Big Bang Theory should be back rather soon. Oh, and did I mention that The Office will be back in the spring as well? That’s enough to have me giddy like a little schoolgirl. But enough about my weekend, let’s have a look at this list.

I absolutely cannot wait for new episodes of The Big Bang Theory. The is the best new sitcom in years. It is now my favorite show. The funniest thing on television. I hope CBS gets us new episodes of The Big Bang Theory ASAP.

Screw all these shows (except for Lost and 24). What’s up with Battlestar Galactica???
February 11th, 2008 at 10:03 am
BSG is due to start airing around April 4th. Dunno how many episodes were shot though :(
Sucks about Women’s Murder Club and Bionic Woman, they were starting to get good. If anything is to get the chop, it should be bloody Lipstick Jungle, they already have a much better version in the form of Cashmere Mafia and although only 1 episode of LJ has aired, I already know that I won’t be following through on that show.
WRT Scrubs, air the damned final 4, it’s the last of the series forever!

I can’t imagine NBC will pick up Friday Night Lights again. They didn’t even play an entire schedules worth of games this season. Plus they never sent out any newer promo pictures for Season 2. Still these shots of Street standing. That show continually disappoints in the Neilsens.
And for 24, why don’t they start airing in summer? We know they already have a few to show because they released that trailer a long time ago. Bring it back asap, Fox!

I’m with Kevin. I think everything stinks except 24. Looks like by the time it returns to
the air, it’ll be 25.
February 11th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
I would vote to hold off 24 until next year. Otherwise, they’d have to call the show something catchy, like “8.”
February 12th, 2008 at 2:20 am
Any details on what’s happening for the last season of Battlestar Galactica? Last I heard they were airing in April. So they will still have enough time to shoot the rest of the season, right?
February 12th, 2008 at 2:25 am
No Boston Legal on the list? This could easily be known as one of the best shows on TV if ABC would let it.
February 12th, 2008 at 2:36 am
I eagerly awaiting the return of Heroes. I am still extremely disappointed that Journeyman was canceled and won’t be returning. It was one of the best new shows on television. I would love to see Sci-Fi channel pick it up.
February 12th, 2008 at 2:46 am
DEXTER, DEXTER, DEXTER?!
February 12th, 2008 at 3:36 am
I’m with Telexen. What about Boston Legal?
February 12th, 2008 at 4:07 am
As a lesson to the jackass writers and the greedy studios, I’ve decided not to watch any more TV period. Although I will download The Office and Lost from torrents.
Goodbye 20th century media. You killed yourself.
February 12th, 2008 at 4:08 am
I hate to be a killjoy, but I found the list completely useless… Not trying to be mean about it, no hate speech intended, the list wasn’t very informative. TBAs and TBDs…
February 12th, 2008 at 6:14 am
Great, finally some info! Though, where’s Battlestar Galactica?
(*lusts/hopes for BSG*)
February 12th, 2008 at 8:05 am
What about Californication and Entourage?
February 12th, 2008 at 9:32 am
Great news about The Office….but what about Dexter??
February 12th, 2008 at 10:16 am
This needs to be updated because on TVGuide.com it states that Moonlight will be doing a handfull of new eps airing in April/May
February 12th, 2008 at 10:48 am
For BSG fans, show producer had blogged a while back that at least epsiode 13 of the final season(s) was nearly in the can (http://www.rondmoore.com/Site/Blog/Entries/2007/11/17_Galactica_wraps.html).
That’s all I can find currently.
February 12th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Three other well-done shows were not mentioned in the list: Cane; Journeyman; Traveler.
Any word on these?
February 12th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Dexter finished season 2 properly, so they will probably resume with season 3 again in the fall. My bet is there will be no interruptions of Dexter. Wahoo!
February 12th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
First of all I would not take this information as gospel.
And second I would not count Friday Night Lights out yet. Word is it may get picked up for season three and or move to an NBC sister network. The show has a loyal following of advertisers’ favorite demographics and is crtically acclaimed.
And it is still better than a lot of junk on that list.
February 12th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
This is good news for some many in the industry chain.
February 12th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Wheres Californication, Dexter and Weeds on the list?
February 12th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
They don’t even mention Journeyman. sniff.
February 12th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Ugh…. How about one of the best shows out there, Entourage?
February 13th, 2008 at 11:18 am
According to WikiPedia (for what it’s worth) Journeyman “is on indefinite hiatus,” and no new episodes have been picked up. Which I guess equates to canceled.
February 14th, 2008 at 1:55 am
I really enjoyed journeyman and bionic woman, so I will be sad to see them go.
But it’s not like good shows would have been dropped if there hadn’t been a writers strike, the studios always do a great job of that on their own every year :)
February 14th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
I would like to just put out there, that if you haven’t had the chance yet, please
try and catch an episode of Moonlight on Friday nights, it is a really great show
and Mick St.John is the dreamiest. Thank you in advance.
February 15th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Entourage starts filming again next week and will be back in Sept 2008.
February 17th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Ummm…most other sites report Moonlight coming back in April with 4 new episodes (yeah!)
February 18th, 2008 at 12:40 am
not till april, may
this hurts my soul
February 18th, 2008 at 3:02 am
Why oh why did they can one of the best new shows, Journeyman?? I am so shocked. I just hate to invest in something so great and then to see it go just like that. Anyone else?
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:51 pm
I love Friday Night Lights but I was wondering how will they bring it back if all the kids are going off to college????? I hate to see it gone.:(
February 22nd, 2008 at 5:59 pm
UMMM.. the only shows i really want to come back is, 24 and the office. Why is 24 coming back in 2009, thats crazy!!!
February 26th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
I do not understand why the rest of us have to suffer for what they are doing in Hollywood. My favorite is 24, I see that it will be airing until 2009. Ok. How long will it be running for? I hope it will go on longer than usual. Thanks
May 7th, 2008 at 10:45 am
is dexter coming back tocbs next fall
