Spaceballs: The Animated Series Gets a Sexy, Stupid Promo

Spaceballs: The Animated SeriesLike any obedient fan, I would follow Mel Brooks down any road upon which he chose to take one of his classic properties. I followed as he put Get Smart in the hands of the guy who directed Tommy Boy and the star of The Office, and that turned out just fine. And now I will follow him as he hands off Spaceballs to the folks at G4 — even though this first promo looks dumb.

Yes, I said it — it looks dumb. And don’t take this the wrong way, I am not going soft on my red-blooded, 18-25 year old male constituency — I still like boobs just as much as the next guy, but this promo doesn’t tell us anything new about what this series is going to be. All we know is that it looks like something that some mid-level animator at Cartoon Network would make on his own time and throw up on StripClubList.com because its too pointlessly perverse for his real job animating for Adult Swim.

But then again, that’s me. I am anxious to hear what everyone else thinks about it. Space Balls: The Animated Series is set to premiere on G4 September 21st at 5pm.

    Its like some 15 year old kids idea of entertainment, but then again it is for G4.

    Did Mel Brooks actually put his name behind this without it being done under duress?....I mean, I love sex, women, & boobs as much as the next meat-eating, red-blooded, Canadian dude, but this seems more like American Hentai than it does a legit satarical cartoon based on a classic Mel Brooks comedy. They shoulda called it Spaceboobs because the trailer gives you absolutely zero in the substance column. Oh well...I coulda actually seen this being something you expect from SpikeTV not G4, but here we are.

    The Series is terrible and the artwork is a joke. I watched one episode and it didn't even get close to making me feel like laughing. Too bad they felt the need to waste their time and money on this one.

    I love everything Mel Brooks pre-Dracula Dead and Loving It. Now he's old and is just looking to cash out on all of his properties.
