Stephen Colbert Appears in Spiderman

Stephen Colbert, also occasionally known as his cartoon superhero alter ego Tek Jansen (of Alpha Squad 7), will be appearing with Marvel’s web-slinging hero. /Film reports that Spider-man and Colbert will have an 8-page crossover story in an upcoming issue of the comic (Amazing Spider-man #573).

Colbert, whose presidential bid is still alive and well in the Marvel Universe, will be making his first comic book appearance (other than a series of shorts about Tek Jansen). Previous issues of Marvel comics have shown “Colbert ‘08″ billboards and t-shirts in the background, and the man’s likeness has appeared in X-Men, Spider-Man, and She-Hulk comics. There’s even a blog dedicated to Colbert’s run for office.

This got me thinking about other potential crossovers between cable pundits and Marvel superheroes. Anderson Cooper asking the Hulk all the tough questions. Sean Hannity and Wolverine could have a decidedly heated debate about Mutant’s rights. I could see Rush Limbaugh and Tony Stark getting along since they both have crippling vices and manufactured hearts.

Nation, what do you think about a Colbert/Spider-man crossover?
