TV Review: True Blood 1.7 – Burning House of Love

True Blood: Burning House of Love

Episode: “Burning House of Love” (Season One, Episode Seven)

Synopsis: After Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Bill (Stephen Moyer) escalate their relationship, tensions at Merlotte’s flare up between humans and vampires, and even among the humans themselves.  Tara and her mother head out to the depths of the swamp for an exorcism and Jason chases the V-dragon all the way to Shreveport.

Review: This weeks episode might just be my favorite of the entire series.  It seemed to be very well balanced, giving great moments to virtually every character in the show, from Lafayette all the way up to Sookie, and even tossing in the bad vampires and a new character just for kicks.

Jason’s turn to addiction and his tension with Sookie is both engaging and entertaining, never boring.  Tara’s mother is somewhat annoying to me as a character, but she serves a good purpose in pushing Tara’s story further.  The addition of Lizzy Caplan to the show is great, and not just because she’s naked for a fairly significant portion of the time.  But she is a very cute girl and her character is one of those annoying new age, run-away from homes and get into dangerous situations types, which when paired with Jason Stackhouse, can only lead to interesting things.

I liked all the increase tension and the showdown between the bar patrons and the vamps and I finally got some of the action I asked for during the cliffhanger ending.  This storyline and the following episodes seem to have a lot of V-juice behind them, so I’m very excited.  Though I am curious as to when we’ll start hearing more about the mysterious corporation behind True Blood, as it was hinted several episodes back that True Blood alone can not sustain a vampire.  All in all, a really great episode that has jumpstarted my excitement, which had waned a touch last week.

Up Next Week: Expect more adventures with Jason and his search for V and an answer to the big cliffhanger ending.

    This was a crazy episode with a lot more happening than in previous episodes. I like how the storylines for each character are starting to develop which causes the characters to grow beyond the bar or as Sookie's friend. Jason is a wreck and I wonder how far he will fall before he hits bottom or ends up dead. I'm hoping for more vamp/human tension, more of Fangtasia and more of Eric in the coming episodes.
    One thing I dd miss, Gran, I'm still sad she's gone.

    Oh yes...I absolutely watched this episode. I am ADDICTED to True Blood!!!!!! And... Bill can bite me anytime he likes.
    I have just begun to read the Sookie books. From what I've read in Spoilers, I am seriously hoping that Alan Ball deviates from the books with regards to Sookie and Bill. I don't want to give anything away, but I REALLY like the chemistry between Sookie and Bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
