TV Review: The Sarah Connor Chronicles 2.10 – Strange Things Happen At The One Two Point

Episode: “Strange Things Happen At The One Two Point” (Season 2, Episode 10)
Synopsis: Sarah (Lena Headey) and Cameron (Summer Glau) are hot on the track of the people they believe have The Turk. They strike up a relationship with the company to seize control of the technology. Meanwhile, John (Thomas Dekker) is still pining over Riley (Leven Rambin), who receives a visitor that explains some secrets. And Agent Ellison (Richard T. Jones) works with the Garbage Terminator (Shirley Manson) to interview a growing artificial intelligence.
Review: In conjunction with last week’s episode of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, it seems that the show is looking up a bit. It’s awesome to see Sarah going on the offensive, even if she is tweaked out by the significance of those persistent three dots she keeps seeing.
Likewise, it looks like Cameron is actually going to be getting a chance to kick some more butt. She played second fiddle to Sarah in this episode, but future episodes will focus on her, which is a nice diversion from John’s whining.
And speaking of John, we had to deal with him a bit in this episode, but it lead into a better development in the Riley storyline. I knew there was something more about this girl than meets the eye. After she fled the gang in Mexico a few weeks back, I was afraid that I’d be disappointed with her character. Now, it seems like she has a greater significance to the overall plot. Things dovetail nicely with the unexplained appearance of the BSG Sexpot Jessie (Stephanie Jacobsen), and the high concentration of time travelers looks like it might actually be addressed in the next few episodes.
Finally, the most intriguing element of this episode is Agent Ellison’s interview with John Henry, the name that was given to the Babylon A.I. computer system. After Dr. Boyd Sherman (Dorian Harewood) is found dead, Ellison interrogates John Henry as to why he died and how the computer feels about it. This leads into a tiny moment of preaching by Ellison, but things turn out cool again when we discover what the Garbage Terminator has done with the body of Cromartie.
Up Next Week: John and Riley’s relationship intensifies, and Cameron starts to get suspicious. We also get a look at how many machines have traveled back through time over the years and how long they have been doing it.
