Battlestar Galactica to Keep Up the Fight?

In what could turn out to be very good news for fans of the Sci-Fi Battlestar Galactica series, rumors have been circulating that up to three Battlestar made for TV movies could be put into development as early as this summer. Reports indicate that the executives are “crunching numbers” which probably means “trying to figure out how much money to spend.”
The films reportedly won’t disrupt anything planned for the series finale of Season 4, and would take place at various intervals in the Battlestar’s past. Fans of the series will note that often several months can go by between episodes, leaving ample room for the insertion of these made for TV flicks. Again, it’s necessary to point out that nothing has been greenlit yet - though the decision could be made within the next two weeks. Series creator Ron Moore has a lot on his plate with some Battlestar related material in Caprica and in the world of feature films, as he’s been tapped to create three films for United Artists.
Fans can also look forward to at least one more set of webisodes that will link the first half of Season 4 to the last 10 episodes. Sci-Fi is currently airing the initial episodes of the last season and the latter adventures are getting ready to be filmed. Their air date is currently unknown, but cold be as late as 2009.
Now for those of you unfamiliar with the Battlestar Galactica series I can only say one thing to you - get the DVDs. I was as hesitant as anyone else and avoided it for years. A made for Sci-Fi spaceship show? I didn’t even like Star Trek why would I like this? But after being brow beaten for months by a friend, I finally borrowed the DVDs and popped them in. Much like FSR Head Honcho Neil Miller, I quickly found myself burning through the discs. Currently I’m partway into season 2.5 and it’s really got me enthralled. If I didn’t have so much damn work to do, I’d probably be watching 4 or 5 episodes a day. It really is a great show in many unexpected ways. There are twists, turns, and events that no one could expect. The show really takes chances that you don’t see in many other series. You watch an episode and see where it’s going and you say “Well this is TV, no way they’re going to go there, soon the twist will happen and things will be fine.” But no. That never happens. The real twist is that the things you don’t think a TV show will do, they happen. Really, I recommend this show to anyone.

I love the series but we had to wait so long for season 4 and now we have to wait even longer for it to end! you can’t help get the feeling that the pause is just to add as many movies as possible before the ending. It looks like they are trying to milk it for all its got. Very frustrating!!
