Man, stealing bandwidth isn't cool - especially from a site that hasn't been active for 2 years. I love the eternal nature of the interwebs. You got us here in the future, Geekroar!

I'm responsible for that sweet addition to the title.

I think that there's a major difference between some of the posters listed that have some strong minimalist artistic value (and actually probably couldn't have been drawn by a kid), the poster for Zack and Miri which is a joke (but one they've kept going with possibly with negative consequences at the box office), and the Ugly Truth poster that looks like it took about 10 minutes to pump out.

But seriously, no more floating heads. Can we have a petition for that?

Josh, they named a canon after you??

A. I guess I shouldn't have linked to that website, my bad. They are angry geeks.

B. Jandy, I'm generally for the simple posters. The title I submitted was without "A Disturbing Hollywood Trend."

C. The last image was from the Ring poster, the one that the little boy draws. I just pulled the image, which is on several dozens of websites, from the first one I saw. Oh well, just another failed visual gag in the Josh Radde Canon.

I like the new Zack and Miri poster and it's jab at the MPAA. When I saw Kevin Smith, he talked about how that was pretty much all they had left to do short of putting kittens on the poster. I'm hoping it comes out for sale and I can get it up here in Canadia (as we have the 'banned' one).

The Ugly Truth seems to be trying to capitalize on the same thing, but it's entirely possible they came up with the idea before. The reason these are important posters though (as someone pointed out elsewhere) is that they don't have the star's face on them, which means the production company is probably pretty confident in the film / name to not need to blast the actor(s) face everywhere.

Trends are inevitable. This one isn't that bad.

So, wait. Are you in favor of the "trend" of drawn posters, or not? Your title seems to indicate not, but then you praise so many older posters that are drawn. Hmmm. Personally, I really like The Ugly Truth poster - far more than I would like the movie, which I don't plan to see. In any case, it's far more interesting than the typical Photoshopped head shots. I thought the Zack and Miri one was something of a joke after the MPAA wouldn't let them use the original one, with its almost subliminal oral sex.
