Tokyo Gore Police Want to Give You a Cavity Search

If The Machine Girl piqued your interest in the gloriously effed up world of Japanese cinema, I direct your attention towards the newest film to cross the Pacific, bend you over its knee, and use your body as a hand muff. Directed by Yoshihiro Nishi, the guy responsible for The Machine Girl’s special effects. Written by Kengo Kaji, the writer of the classicly creepy and eww-inducing Uzumaki (Spiral). Starring the hot but emotively challenged and batshit crazy Eihi Shiina from Takashi Miike’s Audition.
Tokyo Gore Police looks to be a mash-up of The Machine Girl, Blade Runner, Brian Yuzna’s Society, and David Cronenberg’s Videodrome. I’m not sure those ingredients can combine to form a good movie, but it’s guaranteed to be visually entertaining at least. The plot follows a special police unit assigned to eradicating newly formed mutants with weaponized body parts. Arms, legs, shlongs, bajangos…
Like a penis cannon. Or a vaginal crocodile. (Vagidile? Coochgator?)
Tokyo Gore Police has its West Coast premiere this month as the closing night film of San Francisco’s “Another Hole in the Head” film festival where I will most definitely be in attendance. My review will go up as soon as I’ve recovered.
Enough talk. Watch this. And wonder what’s in Japan’s drinking water…
