For the five of you who only read this site, this will be brand new to you. For everyone else, this is just worth a second look. Of course, I am referring to the first official trailer for The Dark Knight, which can be seen below. This marks our first real look at Heath Ledger in full form as The Joker, our first look at the Batpod in action and our first look into what this film will be about. From what I gather, The Dark Knight is going to be a dark, twisted tale that involves Batman (Christian Bale) becoming public enemy number one and having to rise above to defeat his most dangerous enemy yet — and that is the way it should be, seeing as The Joker has always been Batman’s most problematic rival.

It all sets the stage for Christopher Nolan’s attempt to take his Batman franchise to the next level. And he appears to be well on his way to a mission accomplished.

The Dark Knight hits theaters on July 18, 2008.
