Movie Trailer: Clooney and Krasinski in Leatherheads
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on December 15, 2007

We picked this trailer up from our friends over at Yahoo Movies, and it is certainly one of those polarizing experiences. A directorial work of George Clooney, Leatherheads takes us back to the beginnings of professional football with John Krasinksi (The Office) and RenĂ©e Zellweger (Bridget Jones’ Diary) along for the ride. Krasinski plays Carter Rutherford, a straight-laced college sensation who is recruited by Jimmy ‘Dodge’ Connelly (Clooney) in an attempt to save his financially failing pro football team.
It is being billed as a romantic comedy — and the trailer shows every bit of the comedic tone. It almost has a feeling akin to Down With Love or even, and this may be a stretch, O’ Brother, Where Art Thou?. Clooney has always been solid when he is not taking himself so seriously (I’m looking at you, Michael Clayton) and John Krasinski has the perfect delivery for a stuffy Ivy-leaguer. Zellweger also appears to fit well in the equation. It all ads up to a film that could turn out to be a lot of fun — but we shall see, I suppose.
Leatherheads hits theaters April 4, 2008.

I think they might have renamed this. IMDb has this listed as Playing Dirty now.

The studio is still calling it Leatherheads… And well, the trailer does, too.
I think Playing Dirty was a production title.
