First Look: The Forbidden Kingdom Movie Trailer

Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on December 20, 2007

People have been making a big deal over The Forbidden Kingdom, the first time that Jackie Chan and Jet Li are going to appear together on-screen. What they have not been saying is that the film looks like a crappy off-shoot of The Tuxedo. As you will see from the first trailer below, a young boy from modern-day America finds an artifact that transports him to ancient China. There he meets a dreadlocked Jackie Chan who leads him into an epic battle.

All I can say is that I can wait for this film to come out. See for yourself and let us know what you think below. The Forbidden Kingdom hits theaters April 18, 2008.

Also, take a look at the first poster for the film, courtesy of Cinematical:

  • There looks to be some hot females in that.
  • Ooh they remade Sidekicks! Only without Chuck Norris and that dead kid from SeaQuest... and I must concur about the hot females.

I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHIMG INNOVATIVE FROM THIS TRILER.

BUT, MY SON, 5 YR OLD, IS VERY EXCITED ABOUT IT, I HOPE THE WRITING AND DIRECTING IS GOING TO HELP ME SIT THROUGH THE WHOLE MOIVE IN APRIL.
  • My anticipation for this movie was really high, but it was a big disappointment when I see the white boy. Still going to see this movie, hope the story line is make sense.

i gotta say, they're tryin to mix the American with the traditonal back ground. i think its a very excitin and weird mixture because u will never see and American man tryin to make a movie like this, thats y i think that this will be a great fantasy action movie. u shouldn't put up things like this and say the film is crappy.plus ur judging the movie before u have even see the whole movie. if u were to compare the american action and drama movies to the Tuxedo, i'll rather watch the Tuxedo, y? cause now a days, people love to see more action and comedy, other then, only drama. just because they put a white boy in the scene, doesn't mean its crappy, at least the asian people put a white person in their film, u will never see asian boy as one of the main character in the white man's film. im saying this, not because im hating or anything, but if u were to think out of the box, judging a movie because u think it have a crappy shooting, then u're wrong n u're only hating. u belong in the minority, plus The Tuxedo isn't anything like The Forbidding Kingdom nor its a off-shoot crappy film. The Fobidding Kingdom is HD with a traditional ethnic and have better Quality pictures with better camra angles, but again it is true that not everyone will go see the movie at the theatre. i know for sure that the majority of people will go watch the movie and it is cheaper to see the movie in the theatre then buying the DVD.

First, the movie. Regardless of what the movie trailer depicts or not, any true student of the martial arts is looking forward to this movie. I am one of them. Those who practice any form of the arts can appreciate the inspiring accomplishments of both Jackie Chan and Jet Li whose careers have not only spanned more years than the lives of some of the folks posting these bogus negative comments on a film they haven't even seen, but have had a dramatic impact and influence on the 'action film genre'.

Anyone who has spent 5 minutes getting conditioned in the traditional arts would never speak so rudely about these 2 masters or the work they have consistently produced for so long. Sure some comedies and films have less than spectacular writing, but if you are such literary enthusiasts, go read Shakespeare. Discipline is at the forefront of the philosophy of martial arts and more people should practice quiet and mindful observation before casting any opinions on subjects with which they have 'limited' knowledge.

True martial arts will find something positive in any person or situation. Only ignorant people are quick to speak negatively on subjects without first being properly informed. If anyone saw the trailer they would see that Jet Li's character is either a mute, or has taken a vow of silence. The haters of the world should take a cue from him and spend less time talking trash and more time just listening...they may actually learn something. I for one have wanted to see a match up of this caliber for a very long time. I'm very excited about seeing these two Masters on the same screen. The fight scenes may likely be some of the best any of us have ever seen! Think about it...Jackie Chan AND Jet Li? Wow! I'll not only watch the movie but I would by the DVD in advance if I could. This film has the ingredients to be an instant classic! Enjoy the film, I know I will.

I agree with most of the comments that were stated.

I don't understand why Neil Miller calls this movie a, "a crappy off-shoot of The Tuxedo" when 1) He hasn't seen the movie and 2) the movie takes place in a completely different time period.

I think that he's too quick to speak, especially if he's basing his remarks off one trailer instead of trying to find out as much as he can (since there are TWO maybe more trailers out for this movie). I know a lot of people who want to see this movie, including myself.

People should never judge a book by it's cover.
