Saw it! Loved it! Q of S wraps up CR. The begining action scene was a bit much. But once you found out who was in the trunk, then everythng made sense. Glad to see Mathis redeem himself. Good to see M trusting Bond's instinct and letting him go with it. This was hard knocks for Bond to learn in these two films. There is no manuel for being Bond.

I say he did a hell of a job for a first timer and sequel. Now we can see where Daniel will take the character. I hope they throw a ton of money at him and continue the franchise in this new direction. This what the series needed. A Man's Man in the role! Unapologetic, Kick-Ass, Ask questions later.

This movie was terrible, the action scenes are so hard to watch, you never knew what the hell was going through just about every action sequence of the movie. So disappointing.

I went to the midnight showing lastnight, and have very mixed feelings.

As an action movie, I liked it. It was really entertaining and fun to watch.
As a Bond movie, I was disappointed. I was afraid that they would cut out a lot of the charm and "swagger" that makes James Bond who he is, and I was right. He just went around killing people. I really hope that after a few more Bond movies are made, this movie will fit into sequence with the character's progression. Was I the only one who thought that he was making the transition to being classy and smart in the last scene of Casino Royale? It's like they decided to start over and keep him as a rebellious, rugged agent for the time being. I just hope that the next movie shows his transition into the Bond that I know and love.

There were a bunch of little things that bothered me. There's no gun barrel sequence at the beginning; they moved it to the end. What's the point in that? It really wasn't a good idea, in my opinion. The opening credit sequence and song were both awful, which isn't a big deal, but was a little annoying.

I also had problems with the way the movie was shot. The action scenes emulated Bourne movies too much, and did a crappy job at it. They were too close up, without enough wider shots, and had too many cuts to other angles. It became distracting and confusing. I know the shaky camera effect is popular with action sequences, but it got a little out of hand at times, particularly in the first two action sequences. To be honest, in both the opening car chase scene and next action sequence where Bond chases a bad guy across roofs and hanging from ropes, I lost track a few times of who Bond was and who the bad guy was, which was really distracting.

On the good side, I thought the acting was excellent. The stunts were really cool, just there wasnt enough meat to the plot in between the action. I enjoyed the movie because I expected it to be an action movie rather than a Bond movie, but I'm still a little upset that it couldn't have exceeded my expectations.

I ended up watching this at about 2am friday morning (i work at a movie theater) was it worth 4 starbucks espresso shots the next day to keep me going? I'll tell you.

The Action:
Oh why... why? once again... i say why? CR had brilliant action scenes if anything its worst point on action was there was too much! QoS brings bond into the age of WTFIH editing (what the f*** is happening) Quick cuts, zoom pans, seizuring camera operators. Folks our worst fears came true, it seems they brought in Chris Nolan as a consultant. BUT!! It's not all bad, the movie has its wow moments, and honestly there really wasnt any times where I was like well that is impossible (well maybe one involving a parachute) or any blatant CG shots (except for a shot in the revealing of the plot that reminded me of journey to the center of the earth... i kno weird)

The Plot:
I enjoyed it, moved fairly fast, there was no moment in the movie where your like okay so what happens next? like CR after the poker game. It was nice to have a story that maybe showed an outside look on America, relating to oil and U.S. involvement in other countries. One thing i found funny was that in the midst of a drought plagued Bolivia they all drive hydrogen fords.

Characters:
The main man still kicks ass, and i think he is the only character I believe that could royally kick batman's ass (only Daniel Craig bond) it was nice to have Mathis back but i wish his role was a bit longer. The girls are good, M is fine etc. Now for Mr Greene man this guy was just a weazel, i hated him from the beginning and he just felt so weak to me. How he was sucha struggle for Bondie is beyond me, I would of held his head while he swung his arms at me.

Conclusion:
Daniel F'N Craig! this guy is the saving grace for this movie, absolute bad ass Bond. And although I couldn't stand the overall action sequences for the blair witch editing, it still has its woaaa moments, which are mainly given away in the trailer unfortunately. I enjoyed the theme song even though i wasnt too happy with the titles, they felt unfinished, as if it was a preliminary idea draft. I really enjoyed the score, it held great themes from mr whites song throughout. I love how there not going through all the bond cliches, no gadgets etc. It just feels that much more real this way ala dark knight. Where the movie looses its realistic touch is the moment just before the credits, when they finely do the down the barrel gun shot, and it made me cringe literally. It was totally unnecessary we all got over the fact it wasn't there after 15 min into the movie why try to please us at the end. Its like opening presents on boxing day, it just isn't the same.

Is this better then casino royale? short answer No. Is it a good bond flick? I'd say yes. Is it just a good movie (forgetting the history behind the character) most definitely, despite its flaws its still one of the best action movies to come out in awile, and for ppl the didnt see casino royale i believe you will still enjoy it. But please get your ass to wal mart and pick up casino royale, thats true bond imo. And i hope they stick closer to that masterpiece next time around

The Action:
Oh why… why? once again… i say why? CR had brilliant action scenes if anything its worst point on action was there was too much! QoS brings bond into the age of WTFIH editing (what the f*** is happening) Quick cuts, zoom pans, seizuring camera operators. Folks our worst fears came true, it seems they brought in Chris Nolan as a consultant. BUT!! It’s not all bad, the movie has its wow moments, and honestly there really wasnt any times where I was like well that is impossible (well maybe one involving a parachute) or any blatant CG shots (except for a shot in the revealing of the plot that reminded me of journey to the center of the earth… i kno weird)

Characters:
The main man still kicks ass, and i think he is the only character I believe that could royally kick batman’s ass (only Daniel Craig bond) it was nice to have Mathis back but i wish his role was a bit longer. The girls are good, M is fine etc. Now for Mr Greene man this guy was just a weazel, i hated him from the beginning and he just felt so weak to me. How he was sucha struggle for Bondie is beyond me, I would of held his head while he swung his arms at me.

Conclusion:
Daniel F’N Craig! this guy is the saving grace for this movie, absolute bad ass Bond. And although I couldn’t stand the overall action sequences for the blair witch editing, it still has its woaaa moments, which are mainly given away in the trailer unfortunately. It was totally unnecessary we all got over the fact it wasn’t there after 15 min into the movie why try to please us at the end. Its like opening presents on boxing day, it just isn’t the same.

Is this better then casino royale? short answer No. Is it a good bond flick? I’d say yes.

Did everyone think the action was really that bad? Aside from the whole plane chase, which was way hokey, I thought all the action scenes were great. Especially the scenes of Bond kicking ass. I looked out the "Bat-Cam" of shaky action, but when it was Bond going fisticuffs with everyone I didn't notice it, and I was looking with much scrutiny due to the complaints before the movie debuted.

I wish we had more info on the Quantum group, but I have a feeling that will be explored in the next installment. And the side story of the Bond-girl was fun, it didn't distract from Bond's motive, and thickened the already plenty thick plot. The ending was a perfect way to wrap up Bond's love-interest from Casino Royale, and pushes his character to be far more interesting later in the series. I'd give this movie a solid A.

With you all the way Vic. I was wrong about Forster. He would've been better off sticking to what he knows. Add that to the writing talents of Paul Haggis, and you would expect a story with a lot of depth. But no, it's just one horribly filmed action sequence right after another. I can't remember the last time I saw such bad editing. I don't think there's a shot in the movie that last longer than five seconds. Not only a disappointment but arugably a bad movie.

Daniel Craig definitely rocks as the new kickass Bond. Actually all the actors were great and the plot ideas were indeed intriguing - I found it interesting how they put these ala Zeitgeist 2 ideas about 3rd world's presidents and governments, and CIA (which may actually be very true), BUT as a the new cool Bond movie QoS fails. First of all it is the incomprehensible action scenes which composes a big part of the whole movie. If we remember Casiono Royale's opening parkouring scene or flying Aston Martin than you will agree that QoS action sucks (car chase, boat chase, even Tosca chase - that scene btw was nice till action started). When actions stops for a while, QoS is good, but those moments are in short supply. CR was a way better movie.

I liked this movie, but I'm still a Casino Royale guy. I mean, I love almost all the dialogue in CR, but here, well, only a few. "... If they wanted his soul they whould have made a deal with a priest instead..." is one that comes to mind :)
