Frank Miller’s latest directorial effort goes all-out for the camp and ends up in the toilet.

While I still cannot in good conscience recommend that you be very excited about Frank Miller’s upcoming adaptation of Will Eisner’s The Spirit, a featurette that debuted this weekend over at MTV does give us a few titillating reasons to pay attention.

“This movie is not a tribute to Will Eisner, its a tribute to The Spirit.” So says Frank Miller of his upcoming film adaptation, which oddly enough is called The Spirit.

Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendez… how could that duo get any hotter? By adding Sarah Paulson as Ellen Dolan, the whip-smart girl-next-door, and Jaime King as Loreli, a murderous French nightclub dancer, that’s how.

Frank Miller gets out in front of his critics, promising fans that The Spirit will not only be unlike Sin City, but it will also be an awesome film.

There doesn’t seem to be anything slowing the momentum of the upcoming (and by upcoming, I mean January of 2009) release The Spirit, from director Frank Miller.

Gearing up for this year’s New York Comic-Con, it seems that alot of merchandise is getting pumped out for all the upcoming comic to film adaptations.

I’m not sure if you could consider this viral marketing, but for anyone who has no idea what The Spirit is, it certainly raises an eyebrow or two.
