After the debacle that was Speed Racer’s opening weekend, it appears that Warner Brothers may be ready to kick marketing for The Dark Knight into high gear.

The verdict is still out on Speed Racer, the next film from The Wachowski Brothers. Will it be as cool as The Matrix? We can’t be sure, just yet. But as for what we can see in this brand new trailer, we are at least interested in seeing more.

Going to see a movie that only achieves what others have done before is like seeing a rerun of a television show where your favorite characters have been replaced by strangers. It’s admittedly difficult to create something truly original – to connect to an audience in a new way – but Chaos Theory does this in leaps and bounds. Frank Allen (Ryan Reynolds) is an efficient man. He lives his life by making to-do lists and completing them, checking off each moment as a task to finish and sharing his methods in corporate speaking events. Today we got some cool news from the Tribeca Press office that the festival, which was founded in 2001 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, will close with The Wachowski’s tripped out, CGI-infused cartoon adaptation Speed Racer.

It is worth saying though, that you can’t take these lame teaser posters into account when you look at this film. Based on everything we’ve seen so far, I have the feeling that Get Smart is going to rock. Call it intuition, call it blind faith in director Peter Segal, call it whatever you want, but I have a good feeling about this film — and you should, too.

Warner Bros. closing in on a deal to turn Josh Lieb’s upcoming novel I Am a Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I Want to Be Your Class President into a film with McG on as producer.
