Watch: ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Footage Shows Dr. Connors Becoming a Vile, Disgusting Lizard
Movie News By Nathan Adams on May 14, 2012 | Be the First To CommentAs superhero fever sweeps across the world and The Amazing Spider-Man’s release date approaches, the film’s Viral Videos Division (I assume this is a thing movies have) is ramping up their efforts and doing everything possible to get the public excited about Spidey’s new screen villain, The Lizard. To that end, two new videos have been released: one that’s structured as a fake recruitment video and feels all virally, and another that looks like the traditional sort of featurette you’d find in a DVD’s special features menu or whatnot.
Why Watch? Because all cat videos deserve to go viral. The most prevalent non-porn, non-Netflix use of the internet seems to be videos, pictures, and jokes about cats. In fact, it’s a safe bet that some people use Netflix specifically and exclusively to watch feline-based movies. There’s nothing simpler. You get a cat doing something ridiculous, post it up, and pretty soon it’s being emailed and embedded everywhere while red staplers go missing and TPS reports go undone. The popularity of the meme seems incredibly fascinating in light of the fact that it was born over a century ago. Étienne-Jules Marey‘s experiments with cronophotography were instrumental in the early birth of the artform (both film and cat-based entertainment). Not only did he create a devise that would take 12 consecutive frames that were all recorded onto one singular image, the devise was a gun. Imagine having a rifle pointed at you and told to act. That’s basically how this cat must have felt at the hands of Marey’s photographic gun. But enough talk. Time for cat videos! What does it cost? Less than 1 second of your time.
