Back when The X-Files was on the air it was a cultural phenomenon, and Gillian Anderson was one of the biggest stars on the planet due to her portrayal of Dana Scully, the skeptical one. While appearing on the Australian morning show Sunrise, Anderson said of a third X-Files film, “I hope it will happen, there’s talk of it. I don’t know who’s writing it but I hear there’s something going on.” If a third X-Files movie was made, it would be the first time the property got attention since 2008’s The X-Files: I Want to Believe, which isn’t that long ago, but that movie was the first time the franchise had been revisited since the television show whimpered out in 2002 after a couple of readjustments in the cast and declining ratings.
