It is catch-up time once again on This Week in Blu-ray. Watch Neil scramble to catch you up on all the Blu-ray releases of the last few weeks. We’re told that next week, TWiBD will be ready for Tuesday morning. That remains to be seen.

Rob Hunter loves movies. He also loves working as Jack Burton’s favorite mechanic helping to keep the Pork Chop Express tuned to a 6.9 on the Richter scale. These two joys come together in the form of cash money payments that he receives every week and immediately uses to buy more DVDs.

Steve Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.) is a staff reporter for the Los Angeles Times, writing up life experiences. When he meets Nathaniel Ayers (Jamie Foxx), a schizophrenic, homeless, former Julliard musician, he finds a story that actually changes his life.

Neil leads a protest against the studios by refusing to see any of the movies out this week. Kevin suffers through The Soloist while he takes his kids to work (i.e., gets them out of school to see a movie) on Take Your Child to Work Day.

Summer movie season is about to begin — but that isn’t until next week. For now we’re left to deal with some releases that should draw moderate box office numbers.

This year’s crowded Oscar race just got substantially lighter. Two high profile films, both expected to be strong contenders for the Academy Awards, have been moved to early 2009 release dates.

Even though they and their studio brethren are doing everything possible to not make any news today, Paramount Pictures did send over a brand new featurette for Atonement director Joe Wright’s new film The Soloist.

The folks over at Yahoo Movies debuted the first trailer for director Joe Wright’s (Atonement) upcoming film The Soloist, which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx.
