After chatting with him right before the theatrical release of The Slammin’ Salmon, we decided that Kevin Heffernan is our kind of guy. So we’re back for more. And to celebrate the release of The Slammin’ Salmon on DVD and Blu-ray (it’s in stores now), we sat down to once again pick the brain of the first-time director.

This Week in Blu-ray, I’m late. Only a day, but late nonetheless. I suppose it has something to do with Kick-Ass Week here on FSR, but that’s no excuse. You need your fill of what’s happening in the ultra-crisp world of high definition home entertainment. Luckily this week is a slow week, with very few titles that have been deemed worthy of your attention.

Avatar comes out next week. Any guess as to what my recommendation will be? As for this week it’s pretty slim pickings, but there a re a handful of new movies worth a rental including ones featuring Woody Harrelson as a homemade superhero, Russell Crowe as an aging detective from Buffalo, and a boat filled with rock n roll DJ’s getting high and getting laid. And all of them are better than Avatar.

We spoke with Kevin Heffernan, one-fifth of Broken Lizard and forever beloved for demanding a liter of cola as Farva in ‘Super Troopers’ and dying in a giant vat of beer in ‘Beerfest.’ In ‘The Slammin’ Salmon,’ the comedy troupe’s latest, he takes over the director’s chair.

Anytime the guys from Broken Lizard talk to the press, the prospect of a sequel to their cult hit Super Troopers is bound to come up. And look what is happening as they promote The Slammin’ Salmon.

Anchor Bay Entertainment has released the first official trailer for the upcoming Broken Lizard comedy The Slammin’ Salmon, which they will release in limited fashion in December.
