Movie News After Dark: Community Goes Street Fighter, Jean Dujardin Gets Naughty and The Magic of Hugo
Movie News By Neil Miller on February 6, 2012 | Be the First To CommentWhat is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly collection of movie and television news that throws caution to the wind, but never ever pees into the wind. That’s just not smart, friends. We begin this evening and this week with artist Kinjamin’s depiction of the Community cast as the characters from Street Fighter. It was found via Twitter, as posted by the show’s executive producer Dan Harmon. Needless to say, it’s inspired. So inspired, perhaps, that it makes us hope that Harmon is writing this one down. How about a Street Fighter episode in season four? Hey NBC, how about a season four?
Movie News After Dark: I Can Haz Movie Premiere, An Avengers Preview Preview and Plenty of Muppets
Movie News By Neil Miller on October 10, 2011 | Be the First To CommentWhat is Movie News After Dark? It’s about to get a little strange, that’s what it is… We begin tonight with… yes, a picture of Antonio Banderas and a few cats. This should serve as an official warning that tonight’s entry into the Movie News After Dark series may get a little silly. Mr. Banderas recently participated in a “Cat Premiere” of Puss in Boots at the Paramount Lot in LA. I can haz movie premiere? Si, mis amigos. Si.
Movie News After Dark: Rest in Peace Steve Jobs, And A Few Other Things That Happened
Movie News By Neil Miller on October 5, 2011 | Be the First To CommentWhat is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly movie news column that is very sad this evening. Yesterday it was very exciting about the possibilities of asking out Siri, but today sadness has overwhelmed. What’s a near-sentient nightly news column to do? Well, lets do the news, as they said in the old days. As you likely know by now, Steve Jobs, founder of Apple Inc. and the innovator of a generation, has passed away at age 56. It’s always tough to quantify how one person has impacted society, but in this particular case, it’s hard to imagine what things would have been like without Steve. Film School Rejects, like many a website, was originally designed on a Mac. He laid groundwork for much of the technology we use today. He truly changed lives. For more, I’d encourage you to read Cole’s excellent piece on Steve Jobs’ Movie Legacy: Pixar and the Technology that Freed Indie Filmmakers. Rest in Peace, Mr. Jobs. You’ve done well. Here’s to the craziest one of all… And now, on with our regularly scheduled news programming…
Earlier this evening, at the beginning of a brand new episode of The Simpsons, a fresh opening was played as directed by the artist known as Banksy. The mysterious scoundrel and street art legend’s take on the corporate overlord 20th Century Fox and its marketing machine around the 20+ year success of The Simpsons is both interesting and quite funny. Especially the part with the Unicorn. The opening has popped up online and can be viewed above. Though beware of its grim nature… that said, it’s god-damn brilliant. As an aside, the brilliant Bansky directed doc Exit Through the Gift Shop is still playing theatrically in the United States, and is on DVD/Blu-ray in the UK. More on that over at BanksyFilm.com.
The FSR Fall 2010 Watch List Wrap Up
Television By Merrill Barr on September 25, 2010 | Comments (3)With premiere week over I’ve compiled a list of the week’s top premieres from each night. The winner of each night is based upon the quality of the writing, the shows entertainment value and if it’s a new series, the shows sustainability. This year had some extremely heavy hitters and some of the best performances we have seen on the small screen. So without further ado, here are the winners of the FSR Fall 2010 Watch List (please note that this list only applies to shows that started before or during the week of September 19th). Sunday: Boardwalk Empire In what should come as no surprise, Boardwalk Empire was top dog on Sunday. I’m not big into period pieces which is why I really never got into Mad Men, but Scorsese has made me fall in love with the 20′s and Atlantic City. Steve Buscemi is a great lead and a guy I can’t wait to watch every week. If only Scorsese could direct every episode and not just the pilot.

9 Great Super Bowl Commercials for Movies, And Other Stuff
Movie News By Neil Miller on February 7, 2010 | Comments (5)Instead of watching more movies or writing about movies I’ve seen recently, I watched the Super Bowl this evening. And in order to keep the site feeling fresh, I’ve decided to put together a little list of the Super Bowl commercials — all of the ones for movies, and some that are about other things. Either way, they were all pretty good.
