Last week we descended into the bowels of The Machine Girl and came out sticky, tingly, and feeling just a little bit dirty… so this week I’m going to class things up a bit by covering an award-winning film that doesn’t involve Japanese schoolgirls or geysers of blood.

Brian Gibson loves to buy DVDs. So does his buddy Kevin Carr, who sits on his couch this week for Brian while he’s otherwise indisposed to cover his weekly journey into the depths of credit card debt as he tells you what to buy, rent and avoid.

With the exception of Best Picture, the Academy Award for Best Director is arguably the most prestigious award to receive.

The DGA has been giving out awards since 1949 and have a great track record for predicting who will win Best Director come Oscar season.
