After the tour-de-force that was The Dark Knight, who can blame you? We’re keeping an eye on it as well. And by we, I of course mean everyone who writes about movie on the internet. On the day when James Cameron’s Avatar finally eclipses the last of Titanic’s major box office records, all of the talk is not of the past — the 1997 run that made James Cameron “King of the World,” but of the future.

We are not far away from Avatar toppling the Titanic all-time records for domestic and worldwide all-time box office. To sum it up, Titanic’s worldwide record is going down probably sometime tomorrow. Avatar is going to be all-time box office champ,

“We’re trying to tell a story on a massive scale, a true blockbuster scale – the biggest I’ve ever been involved with. We tried to make a very large-scale film with The Dark Knight and with this one we wanted to push that even further.”

Another weekend, another big haul for Avatar. If James Cameron isn’t king of the box office world right now I don’t know who is.
