An Independently-Made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie Exists and This Trailer for ‘Casey Jones’ Will Prove It
Movie News By Scott Beggs on August 7, 2011 | Comments (16)Wow. I love the age we live in and the things people do with their time and money. Someone somewhere thought it would be a solid idea to make a vigilante movie about Casey Jones from “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” That someone was Polaris Banks, that somewhere was Austin, and besides having an awesome comic book villain name, Banks has put together a movie that looks like it’s fun as hell. I say looks, because this trailer doesn’t have any dialog in it. But it does have a bad ass in a hockey mask doing a lot of street sweeping. And, no lie, Casey Jones has a human-sized, mutated turtle kicking ass right alongside of him. Watch this thing and revel in its glory:
Movie News After Dark: Pixar’s Luna, No Texting, Jurassic Park on Blu-ray, King Kong, The Wire and Comedy by Juxtaposition
Movie News By Neil Miller on June 7, 2011 | Comments (6)What is Movie News After Dark? Whatever it was last night has been shed, and tonight it is back to its old self: a movie news round-up that appears nightly, pulls no punches and always delivers the goods. For those who were disappointed in last night’s non-entry — especially that guy who called me “LAZY” — please accept my apology in the form of tonight’s exquisite assortment of entertaining goodies. Tonight’s lead image comes from Pixar’s new short, Luna. It’s the coming-of-age story of a young boy who is taught the strange details of his family’s business. As with everything Pixar-related, it looks beautiful. And we can only imagine that it will have some sort of heart-warming human elements. Nothing plucks heart strings like a little lineage and a father with a massive mustache.
The Newest Fan Made Short Has T.U.R.T.L.E. Power
Features By Nathan Adams on January 24, 2011 | Comments (10)A short, fan-made film called Batman Dead End hit the web like a meteor in 2003 and the shock waves are still being felt. Though it was low budget and independently produced, many felt that Dead End was the treatment on the Batman character that they had been waiting for. A string of imitators has followed, including most recently a Mortal Kombat fan film that has been picked up by Warner Brothers to be produced as an official web series. Perhaps buoyed by that success, the next, “that looks cooler than anything the studios have done” fan film has been made and released via FightTheFoot.com. This film seems to be inspired more by the darker, grittier, original TMNT comics by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird than it does the cartoon series or live action films of the late 80s/early 90s. Like the Batman and Mortal Kombat films before it, this one looks slick and professional, the turtle effects seem beyond the capabilities of a mere fan, and I’m sure it will probably make a lot of fanboys smile. I’m not sure I want to live in a world where every comic book movie has to be a real world approach to some gritty series from the 80s though. Do we really need a Foot Clan that looks like some sort of psychotic SWAT team? What was wrong with them being a bunch of kids who lived in a warehouse with skateboard ramps, stand-up arcade games, and all the cigarettes you
What Kind of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Movie Will Platinum Dunes Make?
Movie News By Neil Miller on May 27, 2010 | Comments (8)The gritty, realistic version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that is currently in the works has found itself a new home with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. This may be the end of the part where it’s gritty, realistic and tied to the original comics.
Is This The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle of the Future?
Movie News By Neil Miller on April 26, 2010 | Comments (18)Legendary Pictures is rebooting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise in 2011. We also now have this photo that may or may not have something to do with the production. Should make for an interesting discussion, though.
Not before, not since, and, I imagine, never again, will a film come into my life the way Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles did. It arrived at exactly the perfect time in my life, and, as such, deserves a place among the Movies We Love.
