This week, I’m showing off my dedication to the cause. I’m taking time away from my very, very (very) busy Sundance schedule to drop another edition of This Week in Blu-ray.

Rob Hunter loves movies. And as a test to see if anyone actually reads these intros he’s hidden a contest within the post. One lucky winner will win a brand new copy of A&E’s 3-disc set of The Sherlock Holmes Collection starring Peter Cushing. It collects the five surviving episodes of the 1960′s BBC series, and fans of the great detective will not be disappointed.

This week, we have three movies in wide release — Fame, Surrogates and Pandorum rolling out, and they stand the best chance of knocking off Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Or they may not.

Director Jonathan Mostow and the stars of Surrogates show off some new footage where robots are leaping tall buses in a single bound and talk about the deeper implications of the story itself. Imagine a world where Bruce Willis has a full head of hair. I know. Scary.

It’s time now to turn our attention to the fall though, and what’s traditionally known as Awards season, but nestled between the blockbusters of summer and prestige films of fall is a little dumping ground Hollywood calls September…

Touchstone Pictures is on the warpath this week, promoting their upcoming sci-fi adventure Surrogates with a vengeance.

The first trailer for the next sci-fi adventure from director Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3, U-571), Surrogates, has hit the web this afternoon via MySpace. And of course, we’ve got it here, too.

Even though we are not wandering the halls of the New York Comic-Con event happening this weekend, we do have a lot of friends and neighbors who are covering the event.

It’s been a while since we heard anything about Bruce Willis’ latest movie, Surrogates, but with the start of NY Comic Con comes a viral site for Virtual Self Industries at Choose Your Surrogate.
