Closing the Tribeca Film Festival this year was the anime cartoon inspired action film, Speed Racer from the Wachowski brothers, who created The Matrix trilogy.

When we first started covering the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s sensational novel, Twilight, less than a week ago, we definitely did not realize how much interest it was going to generate. We also didn’t realise exactly how many articles we gonna crop up as soon as we started monitoring it!

You can keep your Iron Man, throw away all that hype about The Dark Knight and forget Speed Racer, that’s for sure. The public has spoken and according to AOL Moviefone’s Summer Movie Poll, what the public wants this summer is sex, and they want it bad.

Warner Brothers appears to be trying to test the waters by including the first Twilight teaser trailer with prints of Speed Racer, which hits theaters on May 9.

Besides The Incredible Hulk, I can’t think of another summer release that has me more puzzled than Speed Racer. The first trailer looked like it could be a cute, fun diversion. The international trailer upped the ante a bit by adding more plot and action. But this music video on MySpace just makes me ill.

The first thing I noticed when opening the schedule was the wide variety of films that will be showcased at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. There appears to be something for everybody this year.

I can’t explain it, but I love Minimates.

It appears that Silver and the Wachowski Brothers are confident about Speed Racer, as they have already come up with an idea for a sequel. Also he talked about a film called Ninja Assassain, which is written by the Wachowski’s and will be helmed by James McTeigue.

In most jobs, if you don’t produce quality work for a third of the year, you get fired. In Hollywood, however, you twiddle your thumbs and wait for Summer.

As if you thought you could escape Speed Racer today, we have yet another extended clip. This time, Apple has posted a great new 4-minute featurette to accompany the 4-minute extended trailer that we brought you earlier today.

The verdict is still out on Speed Racer, the next film from The Wachowski Brothers. Will it be as cool as The Matrix? We can’t be sure, just yet. But as for what we can see in this brand new trailer, we are at least interested in seeing more.

Today we got some cool news from the Tribeca Press office that the festival, which was founded in 2001 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, will close with The Wachowski’s tripped out, CGI-infused cartoon adaptation Speed Racer.
