On the hunt for horror, I’ll throw just about anything on the list of things to watch. As a huge fan of Razorback, I must have, at the time, figured “sweet, a giant killer hog!” Makes sense, who doesn’t love a giant hog tearing up people and eating the remains? Late one night I saw a few minutes of this flick on IFC. It was especially bloody and violent, though I didn’t see any hogs to speak of, but not wanting to ruin the experience of watching the film from A to Z, I threw it in my Netflix queue. This flick, which carries the Frightfest banner, follows a group of friends who head out on a, you guessed it, pig hunt. Our crew, led by good guy John Hickman, formerly of the area, are soon joined by some of his old “friends,” a couple of ne-er-do-well hillbillies. The group clashes with each other, with small boars, hippies, rednecks, and eventually, a really big pig.

MOD, or manufacturing on demand, means studios and DVD labels don’t press the DVD until you order it. MGM’s Limited Edition Collection and the Warner Archive Collection are the two big names in the MOD game right now, and each month they make dozens of titles available on DVD for the very first time. And The MOD Quad will take a look at as many of them as we can handle on a semi-irregular basis. Which will probably average out to some number divisible by four. This Halloween-themed installment includes eight horror films from the Warner Archive including one of the best made-for-TV horror films ever made (Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark), a freaky and timely movie about a madman who owns exotic animals (Black Zoo), one of the scariest TV mini-series (Salem’s Lot), the best killer pig movie to ever grace the screen (Razorback) and more.

This week, on a very special episode of Reject Radio, Brian Salisbury returns to the program alongside Scott Weinberg for an all-out, guns-blazing exploration of B Movies that you should have in your rental queue. Plus, Weinberg does his best Rocky impression, does his best Australian accent, and Salisbury does the entire show wearing a Spider-Man costume. Double plus, we find the time to review Piranha 3D. In 3D!
