There is a reason that we cover so many film festivals during the year. We want to be there where it all begins, where the careers of tomorrow’s great filmmakers and actors begin. And this year at SXSW, we are seeing some really great beginnings for some very talented artists.

The fine folks over at Atlantic Pictures were kind enough to send over a little preview video for their upcoming SXSW Emerging Visions premiere Splinterheads, from writer/director Brant Sersen.

Can you believe it? Another Asian-style horror flick. And while this one isn’t from Japan (it’s from Thailand, originally), it does take place in Japan. So pull up a bottle of sake and toast another Asian-horror remake about haunted cameras and ghosts in pictures… oh, and the awesomely hot Rachael Taylor.

If you’re a fan of Americanized Asian horror films, you will find more of the same with Shutter.
