As I type up this week’s Blu-ray bonanza, I have a clear view of a beautiful mountain range that surrounds Park City, Utah. But I can’t let that distract me. Eyes on the prize.

Rob Hunter loves movies. He also loves fighting off rampaging arachnids with nothing more than a well placed verbal emphasis. This week, we have three movies in wide release — Fame, Surrogates and Pandorum rolling out, and they stand the best chance of knocking off Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Or they may not.

It’s time now to turn our attention to the fall though, and what’s traditionally known as Awards season, but nestled between the blockbusters of summer and prestige films of fall is a little dumping ground Hollywood calls September…

While the official Comic-Con ’09 schedule of events won’t be online until next week, we have been receiving a stream of emails from studio contacts and other back-alley scoopers, all telling us what we should be seeing when we’re cramming into the world famous Hall H.

It is still hard to tell what the hell is going on in this movie, but we do know that the latest teaser poster, seen inside, has got us all kinds of freaked out.

The second trailer for Christian Alvart’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Pandorum has been released today via our friends at Screenrant, and boy does it look claustrophobic.

There weren’t a lot of films being previewed at this year’s WonderCon, but buried among the big names like Star Trek and Watchmen was a little sci-fi movie you may not have heard of before… which is a shame as it may just end up being the most interesting one of the bunch.
