Nicolas Cage and the ‘Crank’ Boys Mount ‘Ghost Rider’ Sequel
Movie News By Neil Miller on June 15, 2010 | Comments (11)Just when we thought the idea of a Ghost Rider sequel might have died a slow, painful (and deserving) death, the folks at Columbia Pictures jump back into the game. This time it’s nothing but good news. Nicolas Cage is in talks to reprise his role as Johnny Blaze. And Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the guys behind the Crank series, are in early negotiations to direct. Sadly, the film got a lame title: Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
Discuss: What Did You Think of Kick-Ass?
Discussion By Neil Miller on April 17, 2010 | Comments (30)So, it’s finally out in theaters. That hyper-violent, uber-hyped, hypnotically action-packed movie that everyone’s been talking about. Now it’s your turn to talk and tell us what you thought…
Interview: Matthew Vaughn On Independently Kicking Ass
Features By Brian C. Gibson on April 16, 2010 | Comments (1)With Kick-Ass, Matthew Vaughn wanted to go against the grain and against the studios, and it looks like he may have done just that.
Kevin Carr’s Weekly Report Card: April 16, 2010
Features By Kevin Carr on April 16, 2010 | Comments (3)There’s something significant about my notes situation as the credits rolled Matthew Vaughn’s high-energy comic adaptation. There was only one note to be written, and it came only at the end. My Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles notepad was blank, except for three words: “That was fun.”
Robert Levin takes aim at the popular hobby of hating Nic Cage and asks that we appreciate great trash.
Earlier today, a reader pointed me in the direction of a YouTube page where an intrepid movie lover could find an awesome new international TV spot for the upcoming film Kick-Ass, which highlights some of the film’s more vulgar and violent moments.
Because You Asked For It: ‘National Treasure 3′
In Development By Cole Abaius on April 6, 2010 | Comments (4)There sure is a lot of damned treasure stashed around this country. Thankfully we’re going to keep on finding it.
WonderCon 2010: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and the Pleasant Surprise
Movie News By Rob Hunter on April 5, 2010 | Comments (1)I’d be lying if I said I had previously been looking forward to this summer’s Nicolas Cage flick, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Early teasers haven’t done much to dampen my disinterest, but a couple of new scenes from the movie may have succeeded where those teasers failed.
Witness the Brutality of this Kick-Ass Red Band Clip
Movie News By Neil Miller on April 2, 2010 | Comments (7)Lionsgate has this week released a brand new red band clip from their upcoming film Kick-Ass. You may have heard of this film. It seems to be making the rounds. The clip involves the character of Big Daddy, played by Nicolas Cage, and shows off the first part of one of the most brutal scenes in an incredibly violent movie.
Waiting for someone like Werner Herzog to come to the phone is one of the most nerve-wracking things someone like yours truly can do. Even as a fan of the man’s work, and someone who is coming into the interview having seen and absolutely loved his latest film Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, I’m a wreck. Thankfully, I was able to get through it long enough to have an engaging chat with a legend.
Supposedly, Francis Ford Coppola made his final masterwork with Apocalypse Now. Then how do you explain this little slice of thug heaven?
Cage and Reynolds to Play Prehistoric, CGI Odd Couple
In Development By Cole Abaius on February 25, 2010 | Comments (3)Technically, every time he’s paired with another actor, it’s a Cage Match, but I refuse to use that joke. In what I have to assume is another attempt to adapt the GEICO ads into a real story, Variety is announcing that Nicolas Cage is teaming with Ryan Reynolds to play CGI-captured cavemen in The Croods.
Gee Whiz, This Kick-Ass Trailer Has a Lot of Cursing
Movie News By Neil Miller on February 19, 2010 | Comments (6)Most of us were taught growing up that it wasn’t nice to swear. And that it isn’t nice to kill people with a badass sword. Apparently comic super-genius Mark Millar didn’t get that lesson growing up. All of his properties, especially the two that have now been turned into films — Wanted and now Kick-Ass — include a lot of violence and a lot of words we wouldn’t say in front of our grandmother. And in this writer’s opinion, they’re better for it.
Second Kick-Ass Trailer: The Excitment Builds On
Movie News By Neil Miller on January 8, 2010 | Comments (6)When we first got our hands on the red band trailer for Kick-Ass in late December, we had no idea what we were in for. Now, we’re completely enamored with what is to come.
Kick-Ass Red Band Trailer: Meet Hit Girl
Movie News By Neil Miller on December 21, 2009 | Comments (34)Quick, rush your parents, grandparents and any children out of the room. Then watch this video of a 12-year old girl with a gun. It’s not exactly what you think it is weirdo — it’s far better.
Hit Girl Completes the Set of Kick-Ass Posters
Movie News By Neil Miller on December 19, 2009 | Be the First To CommentFrom the early footage that blew the roof off of Comic-Con in San Diego to the much talked about screening at Butt-Numb-a-Thon last week, Kick Ass is all over the geek world. And now we’ve collected the whole set of posters.
Nic Cage Displays Model Parenting in Kick-Ass
Movie News By Neil Miller on December 14, 2009 | Comments (12)In Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, Nic Cage really is taking it to the next level. He’s not pointing guns at old ladies, as he did in Bad Lieutenant. This time he’s shooting little girls.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Trailer: Nic Cage’s Hair is Magic
Movie News By Neil Miller on December 9, 2009 | Comments (10)Just when Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans almost had us convinced that the man hadn’t forgotten how to act, and the prospect of him teaching a teen girl to kill in Kick-Ass had us wondering about a Nic Cage resurgence, he goes and does a movie like this.
6 Actors That Should Probably Not Watch Their Own Movies
Cinematic Listology By Cole Abaius on November 23, 2009 | Comments (21)With Bill Nighy’s claim that he doesn’t like watching himself in movies, I figured I’d take the opportunity to suggest the practice to a few other actors. But it’s not exactly what you think.
