With everyone clamoring to get more 3D movies in theaters and not enough screens to hold them, it’s a crucial time to either invest more or take a step back and question whether 3D is really going to last a while this time.

From the man that brought you gimmicky mining tools flying at your face comes gimmicky kitchen knives stabbed at your face. It might sound lame, but you don’t see the words “Rob Zombie” anywhere near this do you?

The wait is finally over. The anticipation all year long, the bittersweet uncertainty, the constant flaming of people that don’t like Twilight and Transformers 2 on the Internet, and having to actually sit through Spike TV programming have once again come to fanboy fruition.

If you ask anyone in the film industry, the year doesn’t begin until we’ve properly dictated to you our most anticipated movies of the next 12 months. Seriously, ask anyone. They will tell you that anticipation cannot exist without a road map. And said map must be provided by the staff here at FSR. It’s science.

While Horror took a backseat in 2008, this New Year promises to have quite a few interesting releases. Here are some of the films, dates, and DVDs to pencil in on your calendar.

Looks like January is the month of Frights with 12 horror films being released, compared to an average of 2 in October? Well if you think our resident rage-aholic is okay with that, you’ve never read this column.

Apparently, nothing says ‘Date Night’ like a 3D ride to Hell. We’d settle for a 2D Piggyback ride to Purgatory.
