‘Searching For Sonny’ Trailer is Murder Imitating Art
Movie News By Scott Beggs on August 16, 2012 | Comments (1)In Searching for Sonny, a group of friends brought together by a high school reunion find themselves suspected of a murder that suspiciously mirrors a play they performed in high school that was written by the supposed victim. From writer/director Andrew Disney, it stars Jason Dohring (Veronica Mars, Ringer), Minka Kelly and Masi Oka. The film hit the Austin Film Festival last year, had a limited theater run as of August 10th and comes to VOD/Blu-ray on August 28th. Fortunately, the trailer hints that it might be a sleeper that deserves a look. All three stars were key reasons to tune into their respective television shows, and the idea seems like it was executed with a kind of tongue in cheek hipness that could work well. At any rate, the trailer has me sold. Check it out for yourself:
28 Things We Learned From the Commentary Track for ‘The Kingdom’
Commentary Commentary By Jeremy Kirk on May 17, 2012 | Comments (1)It’s a wild career Peter Berg has created for himself. The kid from Shocker and Aspen Extreme grew up to have an eclectic mix of directorial offerings. Everything from wicked, black comedies like Very Bad Things and damn solid action flicks like The Rundown. He’s even dabbled in the Summer blockbuster like Hancock and this Friday’s Battleship. I think that movie made Cole angry. Berg’s most important work of art came in the form of Friday Night Lights, arguably the best show in the past decade. You be the judge which side of that fence I fall on. Clear eyes. Full heart. Can’t Lose. But we can’t exactly run a Commentary Commentary on the full series run of that show. That would take too long, and there’s not enough Monster in the world to keep the writing juices flowing. So we’ll do one on The Kingdom, Berg’s 2007 film about an FBI investigation of a suicide bombing in Riyadh. That’s in Saudi Arabia, something you’d know if you’ve seen this film’s opening credits. Or watched The Daily Show more often. Enough about TV. On with the Commentary Commentary for The Kingdom.

Features By Kevin Carr on February 4, 2011 | Be the First To CommentThis week, Fat Guy Kevin Carr is heading off to college and crossing his fingers that his new roommate looks vaguely like Minka Kelly… or Leighton Meester. But before he does that, he shoots a quick DM to his buddy @JimCameron and spelunks into unexplored territory, saving himself from the terrors that Mother Nature throws at him. Then, after the fun with Sanctum and The Roommate, he takes a nap.
