Today we get to peek at some Iron Man 2 goodness today. And by goodness, I mean that we get the title in an ‘iron’ font that is sure to make us froth at the mouth, right?

There is something about director Jon Favreau and his cronies over at Marvel Studios that leads me to believe that they are wired perfectly for this business.

The folks at Paramount Pictures have begun releasing images every few weeks from their biggest tentpole of 2010, Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2. This week’s entry into the album is a first look at Mickey Rourke as the film’s villain Whiplash.

Marvel just gave away some details about their upcoming slate of films that certain comic fans might just be interested in. Iron Man 2, Captain America, Thor, and more on the inside.

As a fan of the comics, it looks like Favreau is saying all the right things when it comes to elements of Iron Man 2. Should I continue getting my hopes up about War Machine and Tony Stark losing his mind? I think so.

Variety is reporting this evening that Mickey Rourke, that resurgent star who was nominated for an Oscar for The Wrestler and has landed himself in the sure-hit Iron Man 2, has also signed on to a new project entitled Mona Lisa.

Yesterday we reported on Megan Fox’s desire to be taken seriously as an actress. And today, we’ve got word that she will join Mickey Rourke in the indie drama Passion Plays. We’re confused.

The production of Iron Man 2 is very much under way. Know how I know that? Well, it doesn’t exactly take any secret inside sources — if you follow John Favreau on Twitter, then you know.

“You bet your ass” was the response that Mickey Rourke gave to a photographer who rather coherently shouted “Iron Man 2″ in his direction on the street over the weekend.

Sure, they’re fun to vote on, discuss, and are (apparently) a great excuse to party on a boat, but, ultimately, whoever takes home the gold at the end of the night only matters to those who actually attended the ceremony.

So here we are in the official Hollywood hangover week. Hugh Jackman was praised for doing less than anyone else had in the past. We have only two non-reviewed movies releasing this weekend. And Tyler Perry in a fat suit is box office gold.

Besides the mandatory Defensive Driving Class I had to take, The Oscars was the most educational experience of my year so far. Hopefully, you caught the same things I did. Or we’ll have to fight back behind the playground later.

By now you’ve heard — perhaps via our indisputably successful live-blog of yesterday’s Independent Spirit Awards — that Mickey Rourke’s acceptance speech for his Best Male Lead award was mildly entertaining.

Lock your doors and bust out your flashlights because the world as we know it is coming to an end: Jean-Claude Van Damme has turned The Expendables because he wasn’t given enough detail about his character or the story.

All signs point to Mickey Rourke staying in the spotlight for the immediate future. His latest upcoming project announced during the thick of the Oscar race will reunite him with Walter Hill, his Johnny Handsome director.
