Universal Pictures has released its official preview for 2010, and with it come the first images from Edgar Wright’s upcoming comic adaptation Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

As the year winds down to a close and with award season is already underway, everyone is looking back on all the fine performances in cinema over 2009. But to truly recall all the great performances, we have to slag through some pretty awful ones.

The first trailer for Youth in Revolt, the Michael Cera-led comedy about a young man who invents an alternate persona in order to be ‘bad enough’ for the girl of his dreams, fell short by a measure or two. This redband trailer is better, trust me.

Dimension Films has released the full-length trailer for the upcoming comedy Youth in Revolt, starring Michael Cera. It is hilarious, but also quite revealing.

The true-ish story of Chuck Barris, who wrote pop songs, hosted games shows, and killed people for a living. (And the movie where Michael Cera tries to convince a girl his penis tastes like strawberry).

Normally a move like this could signal an upcoming bomb, but this might actually be good news for audiences and for Youth In Revolt.

With two leads that never mix well together using solid supporting talent as a crutch, this film hobbles along to become one of the more average comedies of all time.

The folks at Apple have debuted the first official trailer for Paper Heart, a documentary-style comedy starring Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi.

Last week we didn’t report that the upcoming Judd Apatow produced, Harold Ramis directed comedy Year One was hit with an R-rating by the MPAA, who cited the film as having “some sexual content and language,” but apparently it was big news around the web.

Some people claim Harold Ramis’ best directorial days are behind him, that his best films were also his first, and that he’ll never come close to those comedic masterpieces again. But with The Year One, he’s going to give it a try.

I am so over all of this Arrested Development movie news. Don’t get me wrong, I am as big a fan of the show as there is anywhere, but all of this back and forth speculation is becoming tired. Because lets face it, of course Michael Cera is going to do this movie.

You knew that it was coming — countless spinoffs and reenactments of the Christian Bale tirade on the set of Terminator Salvation. This time it is Michael Cera and director Miguel Arteta capitalizing on Bale for a little viral marketing spot for their upcoming film Youth in Revolt, which is based on a wildly popular book by C.D. Payne.

One of the more anticipated films due out next year is Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. And as Wright gets deeper into production, we’ve begun to learn some interesting things about his next film.

Michael Cera amuses us for many reasons. His candid comments on the prospects of an Arrested Development film do not. Okay, yes they do.

Up today is a trio of films, all with unique and fresh young voices behind them. By my estimation, they all have a shot at making my “Best of” list at the end of the festival, which is saying quite a lot seeing as this year has been a spectacular one in the snowy mountains of Utah.

Culkin will take on the role of Wallace Wells, Scott Pilgrim’s smart ass roommate with a heart of tarnished gold.

I know that I just said this morning that we wouldn’t be posting anything else until tomorrow, as we were taking New Year’s Day off, but this was just too good to pass up.
