Sundance 2013 Review: A Few Laughs Aside ‘Hell Baby’ Was Birthed Prematurely
Movie Review By Rob Hunter on January 27, 2013 | Be the First To CommentNo genre mash-up is more difficult to get right than the horror-comedy. It’s the balance between the two that’s tricky as very few find the sweet spot of being both funny and scary. Most attempts end up lopsided, and more often than not it’s the horror that gets shafted. That broken record gets played again in the new film from writer-directors Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), but to be fair the focus on laughs is entirely intentional and evident in everything from the cast list to the effects work to the gag-filled script to the intense and time-consuming focus on delicious, lip-smackin’ po’ boys. It’s meant to be a comedy through and through, but unfortunately they treat it like a 15-minute sketch instead of a 90-minute movie. I’m no math wiz, but that 75-minute deficit isn’t going to laugh at itself.
‘Meeting Evil’ Trailer Could Kill Anybody
Movie News By Scott Beggs on April 10, 2012 | Be the First To CommentBefore he gets his eye patch on for The Avengers this summer, Samuel L. Jackson is taking Luke Wilson on a bizarre killing spree. From director Chris Fischer, Meeting Evil tells the story of a man facing foreclosure and joblessness who helps out a man who comes to his house looking for some help with his car. That helpful hand pulls him into dangerous territory with a man capable of ending lives. Shockingly, it’s Jackson who plays the BAMF waving a gun around. Check out the trailer for yourself:
Teaser Trailer for ’7500′: Supernatural Shakes on a Plane
Movie News By Kate Erbland on January 31, 2012 | Be the First To CommentWhile fear of flying isn’t exactly a unique phobia, most people who suffer from (ten dollar word coming up) pteromerhanophobia are afraid of understandable and traditional stuff, like heights or being in a confined space or plummeting to their deaths in a giant aluminum tube or being like Devon Sawa in Final Destination (chilling). Normal fears! But for those of us who have somehow managed to avoid classic flying phobias, director Takashi Shimzu (The Grudge) seems dead-set on making sure no one views air transportation as a safe option ever again. In 7500, Shimzu has gathered a predictably second-tier cast (including Ryan Kwanten, Leslie Bibb, Nicky Whelan, Jerry Ferrar, Christian Serratos, Jamie Chung, and Amy Smart) as the terrifyingly good-looking passengers on a jet bound for Tokyo. As if a ten-hour flight doesn’t sound hellish enough, weird occurrences start happening on the plane, and not “weird” as in “drunk guy jumping on drink cart,” but “weird” as in “supernatural and homicidal and evil and oh my God what was that?” That sort of thing. Take your Xanax, fasten your seatbelts, move your trays into the upright and locked position, and check out the first teaser trailer for 7500 after the break.
‘A Good Old Fashioned Orgy’ Trailer Invites You To Have Sex With It Over Labor Day
Movie News By Scott Beggs on July 25, 2011 | Be the First To CommentHow do you top years of epic parties to honor the last blowout for your party pad? Apparently, you jump into a big pile of naked people. The concept of friends crossing the line with each other has been a staple of the indie drama world for a while now, so it’s interesting to see it get the mainstream treatment complete with higher profile comedians and a pop music sound track. So, yes, this trailer for A Good Old Fashioned Orgy is both as mainstream as it gets and as indie as possible.
‘Zookeeper’ Trailer Has Talking Animals, Kevin James and A Lack of Shame
Movie News By Neil Miller on May 17, 2011 | Comments (5)Sylvester Stallone voices a lion, teaches Kevin James how to woo the likes of Leslie Bibb. Somehow, some way, Zookeeper is going to be a smash hit just like Paul Blart: Mall Cop. And by smash, I’m of course referring to the collective heads of smart people everywhere and their relationships to nearby walls. But remember, Columbia Pictures wouldn’t be making movies like this if movies like Grown Ups didn’t gross $268 million worldwide. It’s our own damn fault. As penance, lets all watch the trailer together.
Sony Is Taking Jason Sudeikis Up On That ‘Orgy’ Invitation
In Development By Scott Beggs on February 9, 2011 | Comments (1)Remember a few years ago when we reported on Jason Sudeikis planning a flick called A Good Old Fashioned Orgy? Well, we do. Why? Because Publisher-in-Chief Neil Miller forces us to memorize the site and read it to him as he falls asleep. It doesn’t ever come in handy until a day like today. A bit over two years later, Sony and Samuel Goldwyn have teamed to snag US distribution rights for the movie. That gets this story of one final party (which Sudeikis’s character hopes to turn into a giant orgy) one step closer to getting made. Sudeikis is a great, underrated talent from an otherwise dreary SNL line-up. Plus, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he’ll be joined by Leslie Bibb, Will Forte, Lake Bell, Martin Starr (Bill!), Nick Kroll, Lindsay Sloane (The Other Guys), Lucy Punch (Dinner For Schmucks), Michelle Borth (TiMER), and David Koechner. This will be the first feature film as writer/directors for television veterans Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory.

Who’s Up For ‘A Good Old Fashioned Orgy’ With Leslie Bibb?
Casting Couch By Rob Hunter on November 5, 2008 | Comments (2)One of Tony Stark’s many conquests in the film Iron Man is a nosey, but hot reporter from Vanity Fair, played by the very sexy Leslie Bibb. In her honor, we’ve scoured the web for the hottest shots of this leggy blonde.
