As we here at Reject HQ prepare to preview for you the must see movies of summer, we are ever-mindful of how necessary it is for us to include some of the smaller movies. You know, those scrappy little movies that might not make it into the mainstream spotlight. Like Iron Man 2.

After the usual editorials about the death of a genre, I’d like to offer some common sense.

With Iron Man 2, Paramount and Marvel appear to be holding back quite a bit of the film. And even though this new (and very cool) interactive trailer has new footage, it doesn’t appear to be footage from sequences that we haven’t seen before. Either way, it still looks very cool.

When Geoff Boucher of Hero Complex noted that Sam Rockwell was on the short list to helm the Iron Man franchise, I couldn’t help but feel like we may have missed something equally amazing, if not slightly different than the RDJ portrayal.

Yes, I’m talking about the box office. But, yes, I’m also asking who would win in a fight between Iron Man and Batman.

This might just make up for those last few lackluster posters from the marketeers behind Iron Man 2. If you’re headed to WonderCon this weekend in San Francisco, you might want to see about heading to Booth #242 very early, as they will be handing out a nice little poster featuring Black Widow.

It seems like a no-brainer: putting the movie memorabilia in the same place as the movies.

A week ago today, the international theatrical poster for Iron Man 2 was released on the web. The reaction was less than enthusiastic from commenters on this site, many calling out the mediocre Photoshop skills employed to put it together. I have a feeling that the reaction to the domestic theatrical poster, which was released today via MySpace, will be similar.

A flash of undeniable style. Hard-hitting wit and charisma. Samuel L. Jackson asking a man in a bright red, iron suit to exit a donut. Yes, it must be another promo spot for Iron Man 2, perhaps the most anticipated movie of 2010.

CinemaBlend’s Josh Tyler is stretching things a bit with his story about Iron Man 3, making a few assumptions about the possible Marvel double-trouble mix of both a third Iron Man film and The Avengers being released in the same summer. However, it does raise an interesting hypothetical situation.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios have released today the international theatrical poster for Iron Man 2, which is quickly approaching its release date. It’s hard to believe that it’s only about six weeks away at this point, but it is.

Just in case the fever generated by the newly released Iron Man 2 trailer has not worn off just yet, Paramount Pictures has released a set of images showing us what some of the in-theater marketing for the film will look like.

In a manner of speaking, it is perfectly acceptable for someone like Tony Stark to upstage the Oscar ceremonies — it fits with his modus operandi perfectly. And while I will accept the fact that Tony Stark is a fictional character played by Robert Downey Jr. and the Academy Awards are very (mostly) real, the assessment still stands: this brand new Iron Man 2 trailer, which debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live this evening, is far more exciting than the Oscars.

As we continue on into Spring, the movie trailer game is heating up. There are summer tentpoles, winter blockbusters and surprise indies that have been hanging around, leaving fans wondering what they will be like. This is the time when we learn a lot about these upcoming films, including the likes of Tron Legacy (which premieres its trailer with Alice in Wonderland tomorrow) and Iron Man 2.

It seems like a foregone conclusion, but now we have official word. Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures will distribute Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2 in IMAX theaters simultaneously with the film’s release on May 7, 2010.

You can open your eyes now. 2009 is gone, and it’s not coming back. It’s time to move forward, onward and upward, and what better way to start than with the movies we’re most looking forward, onward and upward to?
