On this day in history, in the year 1904, Theodor Geisel, best known to the world as Dr. Seuss, was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. It is hard to know at the time if he knew how he felt about green eggs and ham, but we can safely assume that he wouldn’t have liked them, Sam I am. Well, it was Horton who received a big golden Easter egg this weekend from the box office, as Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! won at the box office for the second weekend in a row, as most everyone predicted. Horton finished with $25 million while Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns did the best among new releases at $20 million. Again, no real surprises.

While Doomsday struggles to get moving, Horton plops his big elephant behind down on top of the box office.

Walking into Horton Hears a Who!, I was game for a nice and fluffy time-filler. In all honesty, I did not expect, however, to come away from it thinking that this was the first great movie I’ve seen thus far in 2008. [Grade: A-]

Horton Hears a Who is the best Seussical adaptation for the big screen yet.

Don’t disrupt the families when you play, and it’s probably not a good idea to do this game at a 1 p.m. show on Saturday.
