According to Deadline Hollywood, Fox is looking to take another shot at the world of Hitman despite the relative weakness (box office and quality-wise) of the 2007 video game adaptation starring Timothy Olyphant. Since bad ideas hate rolling solo, the studio has decided to hire Paul Walker to shed his hair and star in the project they’re calling Agent 47. Plus, if this didn’t already sound like an ambitious step toward mediocrity, it comes from screenwriters Skip Woods and Michael Finch. Woods’ Good Day to Die Hard isn’t yet available for judgment (it hits next week), but he wrote the earlier Hitman as well as X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The A-Team. Finch’s sole credit is for Predators. The cherry on top of the coffin is that they’ve hired  So there may be some interesting ideas here, but the decision to cast Walker is about as bad as my Photoshop job up there. There’s a version of studio math here that adds up because of the Fast and Furious franchise, but if Fox thinks that audiences come for anything but the fast cars, they’re in for a surprise here. Walker is about as unnatural an actor as they come, and trying to imagine the guy from Meet the Deedles acting hardcore stretches the imagination too far. Hopefully they leak a screen test soon.

Opening in select theaters tomorrow and currently available on Video on Demand, Kill List is a clever little film from writer/director Ben Wheatley that’s been garnering a good bit of attention around the ol’ internet. It follows the journey of hitman Jay (Neil Maskell) and his buddy Gal (Michael Smiley) as they take on a contract to kill three men. As you might guess, things don’t go entirely smoothly. If you haven’t yet seen Kill List, you should probably stop reading, go see it, and then come back. You should watch it. It’s good. Don’t read anything else about it. Ignore everything you’ve heard, just walk into it blind and experience it. If you’ve already seen the movie, read on, or if you need extra convincing, read on, but for best results, see it with as little foreknowledge as possible.

What is Movie News After Dark? It’s the movie blogosphere’s diversity action plan. Because too many movie blogs just regurgitate press releases, post POV videos of street luge or bring you the same 25 stories that everyone else already has. Guilty pleasure movies are the flicks that you’d probably never seek out or intentionally pop into the DVD player, but sometimes when you’re flipping channels you’ll see one and decide to just watch a minute or two. And end up sucked in through the very end. Hitman is one such pleasure. But to be honest, a healthy chunk of that film’s appeal is a naked Olga Kurylenko.

With as lightening-fast as Marko Zaror is, we were incredibly lucky to catch him on camera for an exclusive Fantastic Fest interview. We assume the master martial artist and Mandrill director Ernesto Diaz Espinoza were lured in by the promise of free booze and shag carpet on the walls.

In other news: Fox is working on a Hitman sequel. No word yet on who will have to go bald for it.

Time and time again we see movies adapted from video games fail miserably.

The movie may be getting rocked by critics, but there are 3-4 minutes of a nude Olga Kurylenko somewhere in the middle to take the sting off the train-wreck of a story.

Blasting its way into theaters this Thanksgiving is the movie adaptation of the critically acclaimed game.

It’s not a complicated movie, so this isn’t a complicated game.
