The Future’s So Bright, You’ve Gotta Wear Shades To Watch This Trailer for ‘Hell’
Movie News By Cole Abaius on August 24, 2011 | Comments (1)They say that staring into the sun is bad for you, but that weird kid in your fourth grade class didn’t listen, and he turned out fine. Filmmaker Tim Fehlbaum didn’t listen either, and the result is a blistering trailer for Hell – a movie set in a world where the sun is no longer the earth’s friend. Produced by Roland Emmerich (a man who loves watching the planet destroyed), the synopsis (found via Quiet Earth) goes a little something like this: “It was once the source of life, light and warmth. But now the sun has turned the entire world into a baked and barren wasteland. Forests are scorched. Animal carcasses line the roads. Even the nights are dazzlingly bright. Maria, her little sister Leonie and Phillip are heading for the mountains in a car with tinted glass. Rumor has it water can still be found there. It is a hazardous trip to nowhere. Along the way, they run into Tom. He turns out to be a first-rate mechanic and becomes indispensable. But can they trust him? The tension grows. As if things weren’t bad enough, they are lured into an ambush and their real battle for survival begins…” Put on some sunglasses and watch the trailer for yourself:
What the Hell? 7 Depictions of the Underworld in Film
Cinematic Listology By Ashe Cantrell on July 21, 2011 | Comments (5)Hell is one of those things that’s up for individual interpretation. Some people believe it’s a real place full of fire and brimstone, or it’s all made up, or it’s a state of mind. Some people think it’s a Shia LaBeouf marathon from which you can never turn away. So, with Hell as a setting, Hollywood basically has a blank slate. They can go the Old Testament route, or they can get more existential with it, or something in-between. (Even Hollywood can’t do the Shia LaBeouf marathon option. No studio would fund that.) As such, here are seven films and their take on the place bad folks go when they die. (Obviously, this contains spoilers for the films listed.)
