Peter Berg Says a ‘Hancock’ Sequel Isn’t Off the Table
Movie News By Nathan Adams on January 19, 2012 | Comments (2)It’s been four years now since director Peter Berg and star Will Smith teamed up on Hancock, a superhero movie that did quite well at the box office. But it’s been quite a while since we’ve heard anything about a possible sequel. People love money, so how could this be? Comic Book Movie scored a quote from Berg that explains. On the possibilities of a second go-around at drunken superheroics, he said, “We’ve been talking about the sequel between us, Will Smith, [producers] Michael Mann and Akiva Goldman and myself. We’re all interested, but we literally just have trouble getting into the same room at the same time. We did have a series of meetings last year and started to hash out an idea for sequel — and Will Smith actually had the idea — so I think it will happen, it’s just a question of timing.” History has proven that Will Smith usually gets whatever he wants, so hearing that the concept for a sequel is coming straight from his brain makes it seem like it’s still very likely. On the other hand, it’s been four years and we still haven’t even gotten to the point of having a script on the table? At this rate Smith is going to be too old to step back into the role and they’re going to have to cast Jayden instead. Or maybe that’s the idea? Is it time for Hancock to teach his sassy kid how to use superpowers?
The 20 Most Pro-American Movies Of The Last 10 Years
Cinematic Listology By FSR Staff on July 4, 2011 | Comments (43)In honor of the Fourth of July, we are republishing this article from January, as we feel it to be an appropriate act of patriotism. We will now allow you to return to watching Independence Day for the third time. We know that you’re doing it… Aleric, one of our favorite comment providers on the site, tossed out an interesting theory the other day regarding the state of auspiciously pro-American movies being put out by Hollywood over the past ten years. Specifically, that there was a noticeable lack of them in the face of films that criticize. It’s an interesting idea, and like most trends, it’s unclear exactly how bold a trend it is. It’s true that those looking for the World War II levels of Americana from Hollywood are out in the cold. There are probably a dozen reasons for that. Levels of pro-American movie production have never been higher than that era, but it was also a wildly different time for movie making in general (no matter what the subject matter). Still, Rob Hunter and Cole Abaius were charged with the seemingly difficult task of finding movies that celebrated the United States that came out of Hollywood in the past ten years. It’s an oddly specific list, but it’s also a very good list of movies that demand to be seen (whether you agree they’re patriotic or not). Plus, they don’t celebrate any particular political party. They celebrate the highest ideals of the country. Overt flag waving is [Due to Content Scraping and Theft, we have been forced to try abbreviated feeds. What happens when a director’s cut is worse than the initial release? They put their heads together to come up with just about every single example (take “single” literally) of a movie saved by studio intervention.
