Why Watch? Earlier in the week, a short from Trick ‘r’ Treat director Michael Dougherty called Making Friends got a bit of notice, but this isn’t that film (although they share DNA). This beautifully crafted movie from Marvin Suarez tells the story of an 8-year-old boy plagued by a stutter who is left by himself on Halloween and decides to make a few new friends. Some of the acting is a bit clunky, but there’s no denying the great visual creepiness and unsettling nature of it all. Plus, the kid can carve a mean pumpkin. What does it cost?
