Viola Davis, nominated for an Oscar for her role in Doubt, has joined the cast of the Jamie Foxx, Gerard Butler thriller Law Abiding Citizen.

As expected, the folks at Warner Bros. Home Video have announced the details for the DVD and Blu-ray release of Tales of the Black Frieghter, the companion film to Zack Snyder’s Watchmen. This supplemental release, which follows the major substory within the book by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, will be released on March 24.

After the box office success of 300, Warner Bros. has realized how much money they can save on their big-budget tentpoles by not paying A-listers (or anyone close to an A-lister), and they’ve consequently chosen to exercise that option with Watchmen.

Oddly enough, my first thought was Dog the Bounty Hunter with a Cockney British accent. My second thought was Cartman as Dog the Bounty Hunter on South Park, with a British accent.

From the visually arresting opening credits, Guy Ritchie’s RockNRolla pulls the audience into its crazy fictional London which is inhabited by gangsters, a superstitious Russian investor, drug addicted rockers and a gang that can’t quit shoot straight or put a car into reverse.

Since the release of 300 in 2006, fans have been enamored with director Zack Snyder’s ability to translate the style of Frank Miller to the cinematic medium. Now, we are finally seeing some movement in sequel territory.

It seems that making a fictional game look its best isn’t easy. The upcoming film Game starring Gerard Butler has been given a summer 2009 release date.

It seems Warner Bros. no longer believes in the film and feels it has too many films on its hands so has pulled back from a wide distribution of RocknRolla. They appear poised to abandon the film. What a bloody shame…

Guy Ritchie’s upcoming film appears to be a return to form. Now, hopefully we can all forget about that silly flick that starred his crazy wife…
