Trailer for ‘Seeking a Friend for the End of the World’ Makes the End Times Look Like Fun Times
Movie News By Nathan Adams on February 10, 2012 | Be the First To CommentEverybody knows that the world is going to be ending sooner rather than later. Heck, the end of days is getting so close that we’ve been counting down our must-see apocalypse films. But until I watched the trailer for the upcoming comedy Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, it didn’t occur to me how much fun those last few days we all spend on Earth are going to be. I mean, other than when faced with impending asteroid-related doom, when else is a guy like Steve Carell going to get a chance at a girl like Keira Knightley? Stress-induced romantic hook-ups aren’t the only perks of the world ending, either. There’s slacking off at work, taking part in some cathartic looting, and who knows how many other base pleasures to partake in. Heck, this movie sees Patton Oswalt turning into some sort of hedonistic little Satyr, Gillian Jacobs kissing everyone on the mouth, and Connie Britton hosting dinner parties for her single friends. Not only are these all great ideas for how to spend your last days, they’re also glimpses at a movie that seems to have a stellar supporting cast. Check out how the end times might look with the first trailer for Seeking a Friend for the End of the World after the break.
31 Days of Channel Guide: ‘American Horror Story’ Pushes the Bloody Boundaries of Television
31 Days of Horror By Merrill Barr on October 5, 2011 | Comments (4)We continue our journey through a month of frightening, bloody and violent films. For more, check out our 31 Days of Horror homepage. You gotta give Ryan Murphy credit for one thing, he sure as hell doesn’t believe in doing anything “normal,” and his triumphant return to adult television in the new FX series American Horror Story fits right in with the rest of his filmography, and the creepy child would agree. What can honestly be said about American Horror Story? Well first off, there’s no way to properly market this show. It’s honestly one of the most twisted things this reviewer has ever seen attempted by a mainstream television network. Here are a few adjectives and phrases I would use to describe the series: bloody, creepy, hyper-sexual, campy, crazy, ummm…okay…, WTF?!, where the?, huh?, holy shit, behind you! If any of that sounds appealing, then you are going to fucking love American Horror Story.
News From 2003: Peter Berg Prepping ‘Friday Night Lights’ Movie
In Development By Cole Abaius on August 2, 2011 | Comments (2)Billy Bob Thornton owned the role of Coach Gaines in 2004′s Friday Night Lights, which is partially why it was so surprising for Kyle Chandler to own the role of Coach Taylor in a completely distinctive way when the television show hit in 2006. That pilot is one of the best produced in the past ten years, and it launched a hell of a series. That series which was borne out of the big screen now looks to make the jump back to its roots. “We have a real good script idea. We want to do it. We’re very serious about doing it. We intend to do it,” director and show creator Peter Berg told TVLine. He went on to describe the concept as one that revolves around Chandler and Connie Britton (who plays his wife in the series). The other roles would ostensibly be new characters taken up by new actors – the benefit of working with characters in high school. That very thing is a big structural part of why the show worked. New seasons would mean new seasons, and the audience would have to say goodbye to some and learn to like (or hate) newcomers. That won’t benefit a movie as well, but at its heart, it’s a story about sports and the impact they have on a small town in Texas. That’s a pretty classic story on its own. Now to see if Brian Robbins and James Van Der Beek have a new football movie in [Due to Content Scraping and Theft, we have been forced to try abbreviated feeds. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and woud very much appreciate you clicking through to view the full article on FilmSchoolRejects.com]
Everyone Wants to Get Involved with Aubrey Plaza for ‘The Hand Job’
Casting Couch By Cole Abaius on March 9, 2011 | Comments (3)The comedy talent for The Handjob is swelling with Alia Shawkat, Mae Whitman, Donald Glover, Connie Britton, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, and Johnny Simmons. The film is being written and directed by Bill Hader’s comedian wife Maggie Carey. That’s not to say that he has a drama wife, too. It’s meant to show that she’s also professionally funny. The modifier placement is just weird. Regardless, Hader expounded on the plot to The Playlist recently, saying “It’s about her playing an type-A, studious girl who graduates high school and hasn’t done anything with a guy. The summer before college she decides that she has to find out how to do everything in order to be properly prepared, so she makes a very serious bullet list of everything, like… hand-job, titty-fuck, blow-job, fingering, and just kinda checks one off every time she does it. She’s being the aggressor and is very straight-forward about it, like ‘Okay, so I’m going to give you a hand-job now.’ And the guys are very taken aback about it, especially her straight-laced friends.” Sold.
