Movie News After Dark: Joe Wright on Girl Power, Orci on Star Trek 2, and Stephen Colbert Sings ‘Friday’
Movie News By Neil Miller on April 3, 2011 | Comments (2)What is Movie News After Dark? It’s the hero you need right now; a way to get all the most interesting movie news without having to read through a bunch of padded articles. It’s quick, to the point and personable. An efficient killer of your will to waste time reading a thousand movie blogs before you go to bed. It’s also way into girl power, whatever that means. Hanna director Joe Wright, whose latest film is filled with the legitimate girl-power of a teen assassin played by Saoirse Ronan, has called out director Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, saying that the girl-power angle of the film was all “marketing bullshit.”
The Vintage Trailer of the Day is Using its Car To Kill People
Features By Scott Beggs on March 7, 2011 | Be the First To CommentEvery day, come rain or shine or internet tubes breaking, Film School Rejects showcases a trailer from the past. If you woke up this morning hoping to see Clint Howard as the least sexy drag race handkerchief dropper of all time you’re in luck. Fortunately, you’ll also get to see Charlie Sheen looking stoic and riding a motorcycle. And what’s this? Today’s trailer also has Randy Quaid hamming it up as a sheriff, explosions aplenty, and Sherilyn Fenn looking doe-eyed and adorable? What decade is this? Oh, right. The 80s. Even today, though, you shouldn’t mess with a ghost driving a mysterious black car and killing gang members. Think you know what it is? Check the trailer out for yourself:
Movie News After Dark: The Quick and Dirty Friday Edition; Plus, Donnie Yen
Movie News By Neil Miller on March 5, 2011 | Be the First To CommentHey, guess what. I’m in Las Vegas this weekend and the sooner I get through this nightly commitment I made without thinking very hard about it, the sooner I can get back to doing nefarious things with the company’s money. What do you mean I can’t get the Bellagio fountains to form the FSR logo? Come on! Anyway, here are a few quick ones to keep you warm on a lonely Friday night.
Movie News After Dark: Everything That Didn’t Just Win an Oscar
Movie News By Neil Miller on February 28, 2011 | Be the First To CommentWhat is Movie News After Dark? This is a question that I am almost never asked, but I will answer it for you anyway. Movie News After Dark is FSR’s newest late-night secretion, a column dedicated to all of the news stories that slip past our daytime editorial staff and make it into my curiously chubby RSS ‘flagged’ box. It will (but is not guaranteed to) include relevant movie news, links to insightful commentary and other film-related shenanigans. I may also throw in a link to something TV-related here or there. It will also serve as my place of record for being both charming and sharp-witted, but most likely I will be neither of the two. I write this stuff late at night, what do you expect?

For 36 days straight, we’ll be exploring the famous 36 Dramatic Situations by presenting a film that exemplifies each one. From family killing family to prisoners in need of asylum, we brush off the 19th century list in order to remember that it’s still incredibly relevant today. Whether you’re seeking a degree in Literature, love movies, or just love seeing things explode, our feature should have something for everyone. If it doesn’t, please don’t make us go down on Charlie Sheen in the back of a limo. Part 34 of the 36-part series takes a look at “Ambition” with Wall Street.
Charlie Sheen to Walk Again as Cleveland’s Wild Thing?
Movie News By Neil Miller on June 23, 2010 | Comments (2)Being from Cleveland, my knowledge of disappointment with professional sports teams knows no limit. And as Lebron James plans his escape from the Mistake by the Lake, I’m once again reminded of childhood days — being emotionally crushed as my hometown teams took it on the chin year after year. The cinematic representation of this trend was the very funny (and sadly, honest) Major League franchise.

‘Red Dawn’ Casts Two More to Yell “Wolverines!” On Mountain
Casting Couch By Scott Beggs on June 17, 2009 | Comments (6)Oh, the rage we could be feeling about remakes right now. And oh, the clever move by the studio to satiate them by casting a hot actress (Adrianne Palicki) and a talented actor (Josh Peck). Well played, MGM.
