Paul Newman Dead at age 83

Early this morning, publicist Jeff Sanderson confirmed that actor Paul Newman died Friday after a long battle with cancer at his farmhouse near Westport. He was surrounded by his family and close friends. To honor him, our own Maggie Van Ostrand has written a few anecdotes in his memory.

George Carlin, the man whose photo should be next to the word irreverent in the dictionary, died of a heart attack on June 22 after going to St. Johns Health Center in Santa Monica California, complaining of chest pains.

Ollie Johnston, the last surviving member of Walt Disney’s “Nine Old Men” passed away last night at age 93. Though perhaps the name may not be familiar, the work certainly is.

Charlton Heston

The New York Times is reporting that legendary Academy Award Winning actor Charlton Heston has passed away at the age of 84. He died on Saturday night at his home in Beverly Hills with his wife, Lydia, at his side. In 2002, Heston revealed that he had symptoms related to Alzheimer’s disease.
