So here we are with another weekend of movies that Hollywood deemed unfit for critical consumption. Meh! Such is Labor Day weekend. Go rent a DVD or Blu-ray instead of heading to the cinemas. There’s much more quality stuff out at the video store than in the theaters this week.

Who knows where sweet dreams come from, or what exactly they are made of. What we do know is that the sweetest of dreams for writer/director tandem Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor — the guys behind the Crank franchise — all consist of intense camera work, big explosions and gun fire, lots of gunfire.

The Mark Neveldine / Brian Taylor directed action film once known as Game — which stars Gerard Butler as a futuristic prisoner who has become part of a sick and twisted live-action video game — has once again been retitled.

If you are headed out to see Crank 2 this weekend, it is likely that you think you know what sort of experience you are in for. Well friends, I’m here to tell you that you have no idea…

The folks over at Lionsgate have provided us with a high-energy, high-octane new television spot for their upcoming release Crank: High Voltage, starring Jason Statham.

The folks over at Trailer Addict have posted the first look that we’ve seen from Game, the Gerard Butler led actioner written and directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the creators of the Crank franchise.

Lionsgate is out in full force promoting their upcoming actioner Crank: High Voltage, including a little bit of love via the micro-blogging site Twitter. In related news, this redband trailer has boobs in it.

Our good friend Christopher M. hit us once again this weekend with another round of pictures for a somewhat highly anticipated movie, Crank 2: High Voltage. Recently we showed you the film’s redband sizzle reel (since removed) and the first official trailer, both of which showed off some of the film’s wild action.

If you thought the first sizzle reel for Crank 2: High Voltage a few weeks back was awesome, wait until you see finished footage set to music…

It has been a really slow news week yes, but this should excite the adrenaline junkies among you. A new promotional video for Crank 2 has dropped on the web.

The dynamic directing duo won’t be bringing their vision of Hex to the screen. Even if Brolin is on board, the studio is back to finding a new direction.

Jeffrey Wells is reporting from Hollywood Elsewhere that “the deal is sealed for Josh Brolin to star in Jonah Hex”! Wells claims “a friend” has confirmed that Brolin was “locked down last night.”

Thanks to some prosthetic work on the set of Crank 2: High Voltage, there is no longer anything derogatory about saying that Jason Statham has a big head.

We would be doing a serious disservice to every Gerard Butler fan who reads FSR exclusively for their movie news — notably my own mother — if we didn’t give this story some love.
