Movie News After Dark: Brave, Attack the Block, SOPA, Time Freak and Battlestar Galactica: The RPG
Movie News By Neil Miller on January 5, 2012 | Comments (2)What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly collection of links and things that will make you smile, make you think and perhaps aid you in getting to that restful state known as deep sleep. Either way, it’s always a pretty fun read. We begin tonight with a new image from Pixar’s Brave, a film I placed on my shortlist as one of the 5 most anticipated movies of the year on my triumphant return to Reject Radio this week. This one shows Princess Merida and her family. There’s so much red hair…
Movie News After Dark: Battlestar Animated, Avengers Overload, Steve Spielberg and Siri: The Horror Movie
Movie News By Neil Miller on December 23, 2011 | Comments (2)What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly movie news column desperate in its search for the insanely cool links of the day. It will also take movie related news, things about Community and Doctor Who, as well as, on occasion, updates on The Dark Knight Rises. Although after last night’s entry, it’s not sure there is any TDKR news left to report. We begin tonight with some incredibly cool animated work from an artist named Otis Frampton. On his Deviant Art page, found via Popped Culture, he envisions what a Battlestar Galactica animated series would look like. I would watch this show, and not just because I’m a die hard BSG fan, either.
Movie News After Dark: The Last Stand, Popeye, Battlestar Stationery, Treme, The Death of Film and Transformers in 1-D
Movie News By Neil Miller on November 3, 2011 | Comments (3)What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly movie news column that’s a little tired, a little wired, and it thinks it deserves a little bit of appreciation around here! We begin this evening with a shot of Luis Guzman, Johnny Knoxville, some old burly man and Thor’s Jamie Alexander on the set of The Last Stand. It’s good to see that The Governator hasn’t lost that charming expression.
Bryan Singer’s ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Movie Gets a Writer, May Actually Happen
In Development By Nathan Adams on October 20, 2011 | Comments (2)Bryan Singer has been talking about wanting to make a Battlestar Galactica movie for quite awhile now. But Singer is also one of those directors who always seems to be talking about wanting to make a lot of movies, so you never know what’s really going to happen and what isn’t. Recently some things have gone down to make this adaptation of the late-70s TV series (and, reportedly, not of the mid-2000s remade TV series) possible, however. Firstly, Singer’s remake of Excalibur has fallen apart, leaving a gaping hole in his schedule that should likely be filled with work on Galactica. And now, there’s even more concrete evidence that work on this project is going to start moving forward, as Deadline Rockvale is reporting that Universal has hired John Orloff to write a script. Orloff is a fairly established screenwriter already, and he most recently penned Roland Emmerich’s Anonymous and Zack Snyder’s movie about the owls which are from Ga’Hoole, so it would seem to me that his hiring is a good indication that this is project is being taken very seriously, which is good news for fans of space ships and robot people. Even better news is that Orloff seems to be a pretty obsessive fan of the Galactica universe himself. He told Deadline, “I have wanted to write this movie since I was 12 years old, and built a Galactica model from scratch out of balsa wood, cardboard, old model parts and LEDs. I love BSG, and I would [Due to Content Scraping and Theft, we have been forced to try abbreviated feeds. Movie News After Dark: Wei Tang, Cosplay Babes, Transformers 4 and The Walken Dead
Movie News By Neil Miller on October 17, 2011 | Comments (2)What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly celebration of what’s happening in the world of entertainment. It also usually manages to get in a few zingers. We begin tonight with an image of Wei Tang, an actress you may recognize as the gal who had a lot of sex with Tony Leung in that Ang Lee movie, Lust, Caution. She’s also a talented actress. Which is why she’s on the shortlist of actresses who could play the Asian Bond girl role in Bond 23, which is now rumored to be partially shooting in China.

Movie News By Neil Miller on February 22, 2011 | Be the First To CommentWhat is Movie News After Dark? This is a question that I am almost never asked, but I will answer it for you anyway. Movie News After Dark is FSR’s newest late-night secretion, a column dedicated to all of the news stories that slip past our daytime editorial staff and make it into my curiously chubby RSS ‘flagged’ box. It will (but is not guaranteed to) include relevant movie news, links to insightful commentary and other film-related shenanigans. I may also throw in a link to something TV-related here or there. It will also serve as my place of record for being both charming and sharp-witted, but most likely I will be neither of the two. I write this stuff late at night, what do you expect?

This Week in Blu-ray: Indonesian Ass-Kickery!
Features By Neil Miller on December 28, 2010 | Be the First To CommentNow that Christmas is over, those of you who partake in the getting of gifts from relatively clueless relatives may have emerged victorious with gift cards to delightfully under-stocked retail stores. What will you do with said gift cards? Will you buy something to put into that shiny new Blu-ray player you also received from Santa (I know you still believe!)? Unfortunately for many of you, this week’s round of Blu-ray releases isn’t quite as fruitful as one would hope for the week after the big holiday. But I’m sure if you come along with me on a little journey, you might find something worthy of your time and magnetically-striped money.
TV Cop Dramas: The Rise Back To The Top
Features By Merrill Barr on November 30, 2010 | Be the First To CommentBefore the days of LOST, 24, Battlestar Galactica, It’s Always Sunny and Mad Men, there was one thing everyone could agree on. The cop was king. Dragnet, JAG, Magnum, P.I., Miami Vice. These are shows that defined their generations and set the bar of quality programming. Maybe it was the fact that the characters were witty jerks who just can’t get enough out of pissing each other off. Maybe it was the fact that characters in the genre were always in search of that one defining moment in their lives. Maybe it was just the eternal battle between good versus evil. Whatever it was, cop shows held a special place in many people’s hearts. With the exception of a select few, the genre as a whole went down hill in the last two decades, but after seeing what the last two years had to offer, I think that the once beloved genre is getting ready for a second coming.
Comic-Con 2010: The Uncertain Future of Battlestar Galactica
Comic-Con 2011 By Robert Fure on July 23, 2010 | Be the First To CommentIf fans of Battlestar Galactica showed up at Comic-Con this year expecting some Caprica shaking news, they most certainly walked away disappointed. During the panel, storymen Kevin Grazier and Michael Taylor were on hand, along with Composer Bear McCreary, and former-Apollo current-Zarek Richard Hatch served as moderator. When asked about the potential for more movies, the word was that they “weren’t sure how much [they] can say,” but there is an effort to address more stories in a way similar to how The Plan furthered the universal view of all things modern BSG. I’m certain fans can expect more Battlestar movies in the future though, as we were told that “the Universe will continue to give us more adventure in the future.” Also still in the future are new episodes of the SyFy series Caprica, which airs in January, and the November 2010 release of “The Science of Battlestar Galactica.
As expected, SyFy has announced the return of Caprica, the television series prequel to Battlestar Galactica. The second half of the (rather long) first season will debut in January 2011, with the exact date yet to be determined. In season 1.5, the once idyllic world of Caprica – as well as life across the colonies – falls prey to an explosive chain reaction of consequences set off by the characters’ many questionable actions in the season’s first half. Tensions rise, power shifts and the line between reality and the virtual world becomes increasingly blurred as everyone struggles to learn – and conquer – the stakes in this volatile setting. As the season races towards its stunning conclusion, events of each episode lay the framework for the inevitable (and brutal) clash between the newly-created Cylon race and their human creators. A trailer for the second half of the season will be shown at the Caprica panel at Comic-Con on July 23. It will hit the web several days later. [SyFy]
BBC America’s ‘Outcasts’ Finds Jamie Bamber Right Where ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Left Him
Television By Neil Miller on May 17, 2010 | Comments (1)Leave it to the BBC to brighten up our afternoon with news of yet another interesting series in the development pipeline. While other networks are knocking off Avatar and others are tapping geek girl Olivia Munn for their new shows, BBC America has tapped Battlestar Galactica star Jamie Bamber and several others for their new futuristic sci-fi show Outcasts.
The Battlestar Galactica Drinking Game
Drinking Games By Kevin Carr on April 8, 2010 | Be the First To CommentNow that the brilliant and ground-breaking science fiction television series Battlestar Galactica is fully available on Blu-ray (with the second season being the last installment in the hi-def line), it’s time to drink to the Lords of Kobol in celebration.
This Week in Blu-ray: Port of Call Still New Orleans
Features By Neil Miller on April 7, 2010 | Comments (1)After a week that was less than perfect for Blu-ray buyers last week, the world of high definition home entertainment is back with some style this week. We’ve got something for everyone. Battlestar Galactica: Season 2 hits for the sci-fi nerds, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans hits for those who enjoy movies that are off-the-charts good and The Lord of the Rings franchise comes to Blu-ray in the worst way possible.
It was great to see more of Amanda Graystone in this episode, not because she’s a particularly interesting character (at least not yet), but through her, the grief that you might have expected Zoe’s parents to feel immediately following the death of their only daughter in the pilot episode, was finally present.
TV Review: Caprica 1.1 – Series Premiere
Television By Amber Humphrey on January 24, 2010 | Comments (12)The first episode of SyFy’s Caprica, begins in medias res, which is Latin for, “in the middle of a debaucherous virtual nightclub where teens get their jollies by watching the ritualistic sacrifice of their peers.
